Hi all, first post here.

I bought a 2022 silverado 3500 high country last August. I've got a little over 5700 miles on it so far. A couple of weeks ago while driving, the dash and infotainment system went black, then reset itself. I didn't think much about it and just kept driving. No CEL or anything. Two days ago, I started to back out of a parking place at work and it flashed service parking brake and I could hear the parking brake applying and releasing. It also alternated from traction control on and off. I put the truck back in park and turned it off and restarted it, and the warnings didn't come back on. Still no CEL. While leaving home yesterday, it started to do it again. This time the CEL came on and has stayed on. Now it displays traction control on and off randomly. It also has started saying service 4wd system. Every time I park the truck now, I can hear the parking brake apply. Even on a level surface.

I called my dealership this morning to schedule an appointment. I was told they only have one diesel tech and he was very sick. They said he would be out 6 to 8 weeks. They said I could still drive the truck as long as the CEL wasn't flashing, but if it started flashing, not to drive it. I asked if I could schedule an appointment and they said it would be 6 to 8 weeks. I asked if they would call me, and they said to call back every couple of weeks to check.

So now I get to make two or three payments while my truck is pretty much useless. I am afraid to go far in it and I sure don't want to be stuck somewhere with a trailer behind it. I understand the tech is very sick and I am not being unsympathetic to that, but I'm not really pleased with the way the dealership is handling it.

Any suggestions on what I should do would be GREATLY appreciated!

I doubt the issue has anything to do with it being a diesel. Its sounds like an electronics issue. My first step would be to check the battery cables and assure that they are tight. Also inspect any wiring under the hood to look for any obvious defects or rodent intrusion etc. After that I would call the dealer service manager and explain the issue and ask them to schedule an appt with a tech that specializes in electronics. Unless that call is productive I would look for another dealer nearby and take my business elsewhere.

I told them the same thing. And they said, oh no, it would be a diesel issue. I call BS on that. As far as the other dealers, some don't like working on a vehicle they didn't sell. I know that shouldn't matter, but ultimately it does.

It's warranty work, if your dealer has not touched it, someone else will.

IMO, I would not be going back if they are blowing you off for 8 weeks anyway. Amazing they don't want your business.

If it fails 1,000 miles from your driveway you're screwd... just find another dealer.

I agree find another dealer , I had a bad cylinder head on my 2022 gasser and the dealer I purchased from said they had no one there that could perform that work on it bc there main  tech had just retired so I called another dealer and they took my truck the next day

I finally got a video small enough to be posted on here. I am attaching it to this post. This happens after the truck is started and the transmission is shifted to reverse. The brake lights also flash while this is happening. It stops when you shift to drive, but then shows a message traction control on.

I would second checking the cables on the battery posts are secure. Did you check?

the reason I say this is because yesterday I loosened mine to attach the leads for my battery maintainer and this morning when I fired up my truck the parking brake was set by itself(I’ve never used it yet) and the dash said service 4x4. The clock was also not set. The radio presets were set still though. It also gave me a weird prompt to roll the drivers window down and up. I was wondering if it would ask to do the Hokey Pokey next, but it didn’t.

so I took off the parking brake and pulled out of the garage.

the 4x4 indicator which usually shows 2wd now had dashes. So I engaged 4wd and it went in fine and normal and said 4wd. Drove about a mile and hit 2wd and it shifted fine back to 2wd and that was that. It’s now back to normal.
the service 4wd was also gone.

it HAD to do with me loosening the cables. But because I tightened mine back down when I installed the maintainer cable, it only did that weird recalibration the first time upon starting the truck.
