Finally ordered the S&B intake....I know it's been awhile.  We travel a lot and wanted to make sure we were home when it was delivered.  Says this Friday for delivery and should be a great mod.  I will take pics after I install it.  It will also give me more access to route the right hand valve cover vent to my oil separator.  I still haven't quite figured it out in my mind but I'm sure 2 Y connectors and a plug will be involved.

Wait a minute here.  Brain is still working at 5%......So if I plug the port going into the intake from the right valve cover vent, cut the line coming from the valve cover, put in an inline connector and run a rubber hose to one Y connector going into the oil separator.......that should work....right?

Just arrived today.  This should be interesting.  I need to pressure wash my engine before I even start to get off several layers of pollen.  Give me a few days here.  I'll try to get some pics as I go as well.  The split line to the oil separator will have to wait though.  Not enough time right now but I will do that....

I have been looking for just the tube to replace the resonator box. And use the OEM filter box. So far no one makes one for the 6.6L gas. I'm going to try and modify one to work. I heard that the one from 2018 6.2L may work. Good luck with yours and tell us what you think. Yes, pictures would be much appreciated.

Believe it or not it took me 30 minutes just to prep that intake putting on the brackets and seals.  Of course I used loctite on all the screws and made sure I have everything ready and waiting to install.  There is one confusing thing that came in the package, one big ass giant bolt...I honestly have no idea where it goes.  I'm talking big ass bolt tooooo.  Like 5" long probably 3/8" thick...that has thrown me off a bit.  I think S&B might just be messing with me....lol....

Let us know what you find. I would love to replace the resonator box with a tube and keep the factory airbox.

Forget the bolt, I would be more perplexed as to why they included a pair of eye glasses!!!

Gotter done today.  Didn't have time to use the new boroscope in the intake.  For some reason @Pryme kind of ruined the whole boroscope idea.....gross....anyhow it's ok 🤣.  So it turns out nothing special of course, didn't feel any extra power but I wasn't expecting that at all.  It does sound more aggressive from the more open intake.  I would say it's a pass in all honesty.  It sounds better of course but is it really worth 349 bucks for more intake noise???  I really don't think so.  It looks great....sounds great....ummmm...I'm trying here....I like to be totally honest on any mod I've ever done as you know....ummmm...yeah.  Probably not worth the money in my humble opinion.  But if you're looking for more intake noise, I'm sure there are cheaper ways to get it.  Anyhow here it is.  Oh it is of excellent quality if that counts.  They did their research for sure and it is of excellent quality if that helps.

I have an idea.  If you want more intake noise.  Take out the factory airbox.  Cut a giant hole in it below the air filter.  Throw in a flat panel K&N air filter...BAM....same thing for 50 bucks...lol....

We used to drill the air box full of holes when I raced MX back in the day. That was in the days before 4stroke mx bikes.

that thing looks sweet in the plexiglass box. Why does it even need the box

I honestly have no idea.  Over engineering perhaps....It does look great...but...

After buying a few after market intakes I noticed my 01 and 04 air boxes were the same. I still had the 01 box left over. I drilled a bunch of holes in the 01 box and found rubber plugs so I could plug the holes to get the sound I wanted. Then I swapped the boxes. I didn’t notice any drop in performance drawing in more warm air so I saved the money on aftermarket. I come from the flip the air cleaner days of the seventies to hear the howl of the carburetor. Same difference to me.

I did the s&b on the 6.6d's. Was not expecting anything other than more surface area of filtration. Gravel roads and row crop fields will play havoc on filter life. I stuck with the paper elements.

Wished someone better than me would come up with a pre-filter aspirator, that draws a venturi effect from the exhaust.

You know what?  I don't like it.  The sound was cool at first but now it's annoying..I'm going to install the plug on the side of intake.  If that doesn't quiet it down from that low rev garble that is coming from it i'm going to rip it out and send it to someone who wants it for just shipping costs....I think I made a huge mistake.  That's not on S&B, it's on me and me only.

I used to love it and tuned exhaust all the way until I was 60. It got to my ears. That and loud music. I did the tunes too. My trailblazer had two twelves for bass. My son put them in. Two separate amps. Dazed & Confused full blast. Now my ears start popping. I heeded the warning.
