Put my "a-hole" hat on and got more information about the 2024 from my dealer service team. Parts department can't pull up any info with my vin - too new was the excuse which is bs.

Appears to be same rear-end as 20-23s. 3.17 Qts 75w90. Waiting for a call back to confirm the fill level below the fill plug hole.

Dealership came through big time. I stopped up and my service advisor handed me a brand new qt of 75w90. I asked if low diffs are common - and he said "all the time." He claimed after pdi test drive, the tech should be checking and topping off as they KNOW this is common. He made a note to talk to the tech that did my pdi.

He offered to have me drop off the truck but I told him I can handle it. Good to know some dealerships are still good 👍🏻

@newdude really sorry to keep bugging you, my dealer is of no help.

Can you confirm rear fill specs are the same on my 2024 as a 2023, as well as fluid being 75w90 for the rear? Manual says "see dealer" and my dealer is not helping.

I’m not the Newdude but it’s the same exact rear diff so it will have the same specs and fluid.

I think Newdude already stated it’s a range of at the fill hole to .4” below

Yeah, I just wanted to confirm that was the same for 24s as well. Thankfully the dealership did.

I was told recently that the PDI no longer included a "test drive" If your dealer is still doing that you should stick with them for sure. Other than scratching up the drivers door sill plate when they put the boards on my 2021 I think they checked the color of the paint and signed off on it. I am not surprised though, unfortunately this dealer has given me many reasons to doubt them over the years. The local one that my son worked at isnt any better.

Yes, the same.

PDI no longer includes a test drive.  GM dropped that starting 2019 claiming the plants were adding checks on their end to avoid the test drive at the dealer aka GM didn't want to pay 1hr any more for PDI.  We don't even PDI test the batteries any more.  Those now come as the car sits on the lot via vehicle battery health notice through onstar.

Washer fluid, check fluid levels (good luck with that one) install anything that needs to be installed (antennas, bolt on wheel caps, hub caps, etc.) and install any LPO accessories (GM accessories ordered at the time of vehicle build like running boards, mud flaps, etc.).

Appreciate the info.

Unless both the Service Advisor and Sales guy are lying to me - both stated they do test drive for pdi. Truck had 1 mile on the odometer pre-pdi when I first saw it, 4 miles when I got it officially. Hopefully that was for the pdi 🤣

Once upon a time in a time far far behind us PDI covered it all. Even checking with gauges door, hood and trunk lid gaps. Hood and door standoff bumper heights. Alignment check. Headlight aim. Fluids. Wheel bearing grease and torques. Even a full tank of gas. Even did paint corrections and a full detailing. My how times have changed.

Pretty crazy what used to be done back in the day. I'll never forget receiving my wife's 2019 1500 RST with the bed misaligned 3/4". Had to wait a couple weeks for the body shop to fix it.

Sad that expecting the norm is exceptional these days. Yet every damned restaurant always has a "tip" question before paying.

I was at subway and when you run your card it has the option for 15,18 or 20% tip. Yeah sorry, that’s a big NO. A sit down restaurant, yes. Not fast food.

That depends on if you pay before they make it or afterwards.

The HD trucks are run on the rollers to check for issues, sort of like a dyno, every one gets that and a number are actually test driven for "squeaks and rattles". They do spend quite a bit of effort on validation and testing in an attempt to curb warranty issues.

True haha. If I'm in the drive thru at Jimmy Johns I always pay cash so they can get me my sammie before I tell them to pound sand on the tip as they fumble for cash.

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
