New old 2022s

Recommended Posts

Today I went to my local Chevy Dealer to have my oil changed and tires rotated...While my truck was being worked on I of course walked the grounds and looked at the trucks they had for sale.  Now this particular truck caught my eye because it's a 2022.  This dealer a year ago was one of the many who were adding 10 to 15k above msrp.  Now they are sitting on this truck that they are discounting almost 7k.  It is a beautiful truck, and that IRIDESCENT PEARL TRICOAT is to die for...wow...I'm really not a fan of white vehicles but damn, that color is amazing.  But I can't imagine buying a 2022 with the 2024's already coming out...They might have to discount another 10k on top of the 7k is already is just to get rid of it....but wow, it really was amazing......here's the link...

I guess my question is, how would someone negotiate on a 2 year old new truck?  There are dealers out there right now dropping the prices on 24's by that amount.  This makes no sense to me.  Would I love to own that truck?  Absolutely....do I need it?  Hell no.....but it is cool as hell....

I ran into a dealer that had a 23, 24 and just received a 22 High Country about two months ago.  I made a valiant effort to negotiate on the 22 and they wouldnt move off sticker price.  I laughed, truck is still sitting there.  Two model years old, brand new, with the same incentives as the 24's.  Checked the website this morning, truck is listed at $500 off sticker.  Good luck with the sale......

Jettech, your new truck should be a 2024. You know you love the larger center display. Anything less and you will just be back to lusting again in 6 months. The rest of us are just trying to look out for you, and don’t really want to deal with another round of you denying you want a new truck in the next two years. Just do it, but do it with a 2024+.

Is this a case of 22 built trucks that have been sitting in a field somewhere due to chip shortage?  I just don't see how there can still be 22's out there at this point.

Its possible but might be unlikely.  That truck was built 7/18/2022.  Dealer did the PDI 8/22/2022.  So either its legit been sitting there since August 2022, or someone was demo driving it and its got under 3000mi on it.

It may very well have been in a repair hold situation. The storage yards that were used during the supply chain/chip build short era of the HD's have been empty for some time now.

No new truck for me.  I might be able to be persuaded if it was discounted 15k but I doubt that will happen.

Laura GMC has three 22's listed on their weibsite, listed around 5k off sticker.

I typically look at Laura and Rivard in Tampa.  Those 2 dealers know how to discount trucks!
