Quick update - Got GM customer care involved yesterday and advised them when this hits 30 days on 11-30 I will be looking to make a lemon law claim. They called me back today and advised me the valve bodies were shipped today and the dealer will have them next week.

Turns out GM did not ship the part and have no ETA. Not sure why they said it was shipped. We’re at 21 days now. I reiterated today that at day 30 I would like to make a lemon law claim. We’ll see what happens…..

I already have a case open with customer care. Are you saying you will provide additional assistance?

I am on the same boat as you. My 22 Sierra went into the shop with limp mode on Nov 13th. Needed the valve body replaced. The dealership said no ETA and didnt have a loaner to provide me. Opened up a case number with GM but not sure if that is going to help. Really hoping that it isnt in the shop for 3 months, I will be asking to for a buyback or get put into an actual loaner that is a truck. Quite frustrating when the GM customer service cant even provide a basic ETA. Really deterring me from buying another GM product in the future.

Maybe educate the dealers about the difference between a 'unit down' parts order and a 'stocking order'...

GM customer care is useless. My “advisor” is never in and never returns calls and no one else will help me. I’ve had years of happy GM ownership with other vehicles, but they’re quickly burning through the good will.

Been over 3 months now waiting for a valve body for my 2019 Sierra 1500 8 speed.  Had a rental vehicle for a couple months until GM decided not to fund that anymore.  Now I have a loaner from the dealership.  GM Customer Care did send me a check to cover a couple months payments but tell me I don't qualify for a buy back offer (no one can tell me why I don't qualify).  My service advisor tells me that since I'm in CA with lemon laws I should have priority over those in other states.  BBB is supposedly investigating.  All this and I'm not convinced the valve body replacement is going to solve the issues.  😠

I have the same issue with my 2024 GMC Sierra. It has been in the shop for a month with no eta on a new valve body. From what I can tell this has been an issue since 2020 and is related to the recall GM just issued for some 2020 and 2022 GM vehicles because the valve body was failing causing the vehicles to go into reverse while in 8th gear.  However, the fix is installing a software that senses that the valve body will fail within the next 10,0000 miles and puts the vehicle into limp mode so you will bring it in before it fails. If you own a  2023-2024 the software has already been installed. THe custermer care team replied to my claim today and said there is no ETA. The first dealer I talked to said it could be 6-8 months before they could get the part. My guess is that there is no fix yet and they are working on a new valve body.

Sorry Marcby, i was replying to Stan but my reply did not go through for a few hours for some reason.  I had a 2019 Silverado   8 speed with transimission isuues so I traded it in for th GMC. Also, I believe a class action lawsuit has been filed against GMC for hiding transmission problems in 2015-2019 Silverados.

3+months? Obviously you are not a priority to GMC.

2024 Silverado 1500 has been in the shop for over one month now for the same issue, valve body with no parts available.  Dealer's Service Manager won't return my calls - I'm emailing Chevy customer service just so that I can have a paper trail for a Lemon Law case..

Texas has a 30 day clause in their Lemon Law verbiage that basically says any new vehicle that has been in for service more than 30 days over a 24 month period is covered under the Texas Lemon Law.  This issue is not the first time the truck has been in for service.  Won't be going with GM ever again..

My truck (2023 Trail Boss) has been at the dealer since August for the same issue. Calling GM has been of no help. Still no anticipated date on when to expect the part. Luckily, I have a loaner from the dealer but I’m limited where I can drive with it. I may start contacting a lemon law attorney. This is ridiculous.

Now that i’m over 30 days I have officially requested a buyback. GM called today to let me know they would have an answer by this Thursday. Per AZ lemon law they dont have any reason to deny my request but we’ll see. Trying to work through this directly with GM but if things get bumpy i’ll just turn it over to a lemon law attorney.

Good luck man. Let us know how this works out for you.

UPDATE

after reading all the posts on here, I contacted a lemon law attorney in Ohio.  A case will be filed. Process has already started.

I purchased a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2.7 turbo at the end of September 2024. Had it a week and to the dealer it went. Under warranty. Transmission issues.  Get I back after they have it over a week.  Within 24 hours, the same problems. Not fixed.  A week later, the dealer has me leave it.  It is now December.  I get a call Tuesday, December 3, stating the body valve (which is on back order and they have no clue when it will be available) has damage and one of the seals needs replaced.  Chevy has had possession of the truck more than I have since purchase. BUT, the truck was gone over with a fine tooth comb according to the Car Bravo report, including the transmission. That report isn’t worth the paper it is written on. I call car bravo to request to be removed from all mailing and call lists.  The gentleman realizes I am upset and why. He puts me through to corporate to file a complaint.  The lady I get, very nice. I thought, this might help.  She said someone would be contacting me to set up a complete file.  So Jacob calls.  Since then, if I need Jacob, good luck.  He doesn’t answer his phone or return calls. I am very disappointed in Chevy/GMC. From everything I have read, I will be lucky to have my truck back by summer.  NOT HAPPY!!!  I owned a 2018 Chevy Silverado previously and kick myself for getting rid of it.  This truck is a JOKE!!!!  If you want a good truck, DO NOT BUY CHEVY.
