Would you guys recommend 19-24 model sierra?

Hey guys merry Christmas hope you guys had a great holiday. But quick question I have a 17’ sierra and wanting to upgrade to a 19-24 model I’d like the know the ins and outs of and what to look for and stay away from. From biggest problem to things like that . Looking from insight from 19-24 owners please and thank you

you need to pick a model and power train and go from there. there are so many variables, and what you are going to use the truck for. i now i will get bashed, but the 2.7 turbo with 8 speed seems to have the least problems, i have one and other than 1 problem and using oil is has been great. i am at 90k miles on a 2020 silverado

If going on looks alone, the face lifted 2022.5's and newer look better and have a better dash layout in my opinion.

5.3s with option code YK9 are a good one to find as DFM is disabled due to the COVID chip shortages.

 

6.2 is fun and all but I'd avoid it, especially 2023-2024.  

 

2.7 Turbomax from 2022.5 and up is a solid pick, as is the older version 19-22 but the Turbomax has way more toruqe.

Had a a few Sierra Denali 6.2L, no problems.  My brother had same engine in his 2017 and 2021 but in the SLT version. No problems and just bought a 2025 exact same truck albeit a different color.  I got a 2024 3.0L diesel back in Aug and so far is been a great truck with much better mileage. So far its 25-28mpg(+-).   So it all comes down to what you can live with.  If you are going to worry over problems others complain about, keep driving the 2017 because forums like this bring out problems disproportionately.

I have a 2024 silverado LT 4x4 crew cab with the 2.7 Turbomax.  And other then the sound of it is absolutely love it. I was very sceptical of getting a 2.7 after last 2 trucks had 5.3's. Just hope it's reliable.  But did tons of research on it before I bought it. 17,000 trouble free miles.
