Black 2025 Denali 3500 scratched.

Has anybody taken delivery of a new truck that appears to be put through an automatic car wash with brushes? Does GM wash vehicles before transit or anytime before dealer? I requested dealer hand wash my truck upon delivery and before picking up. They have a touchless onsite but still hand washed. I know my black truck will slowly acquire spider swirls just didn’t want to start off swirled.

No, GM does not wash the vehicle and the dealer may will not do it till sold.  But hand washing will create the swirl marks no doubt about it and darker colors will accentuate it. I have a black truck (24 GMC) and told my salesman to not let anyone wash it.  Was not dirty at all making the trip from Mexico to Upper Michigan.  Hand washing you are rubbing the dirt into the clear coat and the dealer prep guys do 100's of vehicles and could care less about what the paint looks like when they are done as they never stop coming.

Vehicles are not washed until delivery yes there getting dusty sitting on the lot but rain takes care of that nothing like driving down the road etc in bad weather, there's no way they wash 100+ vehicles sitting on the lots. My wife worked at a Chevrolet dealership for 15+ years.

I was the GSM of a dealer in the Detroit suburbs and my stock (200+ cars) was washed by a company weekly spring, summer and fall. Let a leaf get stuck on paint for a month and it'll leave a mark. Bird crap even worse. That company was working 6 days a week hitting dealers all around me. Any time I had a salesman have an appointment to show a car. I wanted it washed and cleaned to show. If they didn't, they'd hear about it.

Most dealers around here (In NJ) wash the stock vehicles weekly, hard to sell a filthy car that's potentially sitting on the lot for a long length of time.

I hand wash using the 2 bucket method, a foam gun, and other precautions on my black truck to avoid swirls.

 

I also told my dealer not to wash it, and drove it home dirty the first time.

Sadly I highly doubt any dealer hand washes correctly to avoid swirls.

 

A proper detail / paint correction should fix most of what you are seeing.

They use a big broom like brush.  If you washing many cars a day I doubt you give a shoot about scratches that only a handful will notice.
