I see harnessdr has wiring kits/lights to add footwell lighting to my 2018 but im confused as which is what. I want bright lights to come on with the dome light but be totally dark when driving.

Do i need to buy the ambient light harnesses:

or do i need the courtesy lights?

I am also interested. I saw in the forums some may have already done this, but there was an issue with flickering when done wrong. I want to add it to a 2017. The dome light they use with a sunroof sucks. I also want yo add it for the back. I figure probably mounted on the under seat storage box.

This is Phil from HarnessDR.

The Ambient LED light is a very soft light. It is similar to the light that is always on at night in the overhead console. I found that SUVs use this same light for their footwells and such, created this harness to add that same style to the trucks.

I assume toj want it bright? So that you can light up the floors when you open the doors, or turn on the dome lamps? If so, maybe consider the these?

These lights will be similar to the dome lamps which output brighter than the ambient led light. These are the same lights you see inside the full center console.

Also note, the LED Ambient Light harness doesn’t come with the light but the Courtesy Lamp does come with the light and harness.

Hope this helps.

Phil, can you tell me where you wired your courtesy lights in to and the pin outs for that clean "oem" look? When i did my led door handles, your pin out locations and additional hardware you used was super clean and "factory" after watching you youtube video. I would like to follow the same wiring technique with the courtesy lighting as well. Thanks for always being a great help

Thank you phil! I just placed my order.

Do you have a write up on how to wire them to the dome light circuit on a 2018 silverado? Also any tips on where/how to mount them on a truck without a center console?

Currently, I'm using @pgamboa's Aux Switch Pre-Terminated Leads

to turn on under dash lights and rear seat lights as well as my dash cam, radar detector and under hood light.

I would love to find a way to have the under seat and under dash lights turn on when I open the door or manually put the interior lights on.
