** Do this at your own risk!!!

Alright, here is most of what you need to know if you are wanting to install AT4/Denali/HighCountry/LTZ (or any seat with a driver seat memory module) leather seats into your mid level trims SLE/LT (and sub trims) Chevy and GMC pickups with power driver and manual passenger.

My swap cost me just under $700.

I believe I got a good deal on the seats ($575)

Parts list:

1: Leather seats from AT4/Denali/HighCountry/LTZ

2: Memory module bypass from the HarnessDR ($167) (****unless you swap the wiring harness and control panel from the cloth seat to the leather seat which is what I did and what I recommend to save $$)

3: The HarnessDR passenger manual to power harness ($75)

4: A 30A GM fuse (I found one at Napa) ($5)

5: A few miscellaneous electrical parts (wire stripper/crimper, electrical tape, suitcase wire splicer)

Things to note:

Find a set of leather seats (AT4/Denali/HighCountry/LTZ) on places like FB marketplace, Craigslist, etc.

Decide if you want to keep/sell  the cloth seats. If not, then we will use the wiring harness off of the cloth driver seat. If you do want to try and sell/keep the cloth seats, then you will need to purchase a memory module bypass from the HarnessDR ($167).

Front heat seats will work but rear heat seats and front cooling features will not work.

****This install will be based on swapping the wiring harness from the cloth to leather driver seat to bypass the memory module not using the HarnessDR driver memory module bypass harness.

**** This is my first time doing this, everything worked correctly for me but warning, you are changing wiring harnesses from cloth to the leather there is a possibility for something to get messed up and to cause electrical issues. Do this at your own risk.

How to install:

1: Disconnect the trucks battery.

2:Remove all seats from truck.

3: Starting with the driver seat, carefully remove the wiring harness out of your cloth seat. Remove the harness out of the leather seat and remove the memory module. Then install the cloth seat harness into the leather seat. Make sure to plug in ALL the connectors on the cloth harness to the leather seat in the right place. (Helpful tools: needle nose pliers, small screwdriver, and miscellaneous other tools) ***(Tip: take pictures of the harness on both seats before you remove) ****Process will probably take about an hour depending on skill level.

4: Once you have swapped the wiring harness, then install the driver seat into the vehicle and plug it in. Voila, if everything went well everything should work correctly.

5: Passenger seat is a little easier. follow video instructions from the HarnessDR (link at the bottom of this post) on swapping passenger seat from manual to power. Basically you will run a wire over to the passenger side wire block and splice into the driver lumbar power wire. Then you will run a wire over to the passenger side fuse block for your main power. The wiring harness has pretty much everything you need except for a wire spice and a 30 amp fuse. Once you have done that, install the seat and plug it in and everything should work correctly.

6: The rear seats are the easiest of them all, there is multiple videos online on how to remove them, and you just repeat the steps in reverse order to install the new leather seats. Like I said above, the rear heat seats won't work without highly modifying it so everything just sets into place where the old seats were with no modifications.

That's it!! Now factory cloth truck has some fancy new leather seats!

@Delson0Thanks! I would be interested in trading the center bench for the console if you are in TX 😂

**you will need to use the control panel from your cloth driver seat along with the cloth driver seat harness! I have not tested it by using the higher trim level control panel.

Yes, they should. Anything GM trucks from 19-22 1500, 2500,3500 seats all should be the same

I didn’t have to change the seat harness when I went from cloth seats to leather seats from a high country in my 20 LT. the driver seat was 100% plug and play. I only had to run the HarnessDR harness to bring power to my pass seat.

Ok, I am curious... Did it have a driver seat memory module under the seat?

Posted

I don’t know. Never looked. My truck didn’t  have the memory seats. Everything works like it should, movement, heat, etc.

the center console was plug and play as well.

Okay, very interesting. I tried to hookup my AT4 driver seat with the AT4 harness and it did not work.

Hey Kyle, i need your help, i went same route as you, i installed the rear seats. And my driver seat is power and heated but my passenger is not. I installed both and to my understanding i would need the Harness to make them work. I was looking into going your route of removing the harness from the cloth seat and transferring it over to the leather seat. Could you help me out with that?

@HHHHey of course, happy to help! So your current passenger seat is heated but manual adjustment?

Hey Kyle! Thank you for responding!,

yes my passenger seat is heated and manual. I intend to get the power harness from the link you provided. I needed help with my driver seat. I was hoping to transfer over my cloth harness to the leather seat

Posted

Of course! So mine was manual passenger with heat also. Let me confirm but you may not need the harness. Some of the trucks already come with the wire you need to convert it to power. I will check it and get back with you asap

@HHHif your passenger seat plug on the truck side has all 3 of these tabs then it's plug and play and you do not need the harness to install a power seat.

This video will be very helpful especially if you do end up needing to get the passenger harness from harnessdr: https://youtu.be/cngm0mjDLDs?si=70oyDWn0eXeb0ICs

    • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
    • Cool to see another Vermonter!
    • I have changed oil and filter for years by starting a cold engine to warm oil up, let it run 5-10 minutes depending on temperature. Drain until it starts dripping, refill with quantity from owners manual or get it close.
    • I changed the factory fill oil in the rear diff of my truck for the first time today and the miles is close to 9000 on the truck. There was a lot of fines on the magnet, a very thick layer but working it through my fingers it all felt like mush and as most know it appears like graphite, so no surprise chunks anyway. Certainly was time to do it from my thinking and could have been done sooner but the oil didn't look awful but sure wasn't new looking and never expected it to either. I did use some solvent to help me clean out the bottom area of the axle housing, just get any other stuff settled at the bottom washed and wiped out of the housing for the bit of effort it takes. I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 in the easy packs to try out what they are like and I used up 4 packs and didn't spill much at all in the process but did take all four of the packs and go to the work bench and emptied them into a measuring container and there certainly was some in them that added up to something, then poured that into one of the easy packs and squirted in what I could get out of it. I would say the level is within 1/8th of an inch of being level with the threads at the fill plug so just the perfect amount. Once again, more than what GM says the fill volume is but computes with what others are adding to their rear diffs as well.
