Anyone got a part # for a Twist Lock oil fill doohickey for the oil fill neck?

Ya'll know what I'm talking about? 

I've seen a few guys on Youtube vids using a short, 45deg neck that twist locks into the factory enging oil fill tube, that then allows you to twist lock a large funnel into that?

To reduce drips and keep you from having to climb into the engine bay to add oil.

Here are a couple of idea's, they may not be exactly what your referring to but I know for sure the first one works very well because I had ended up buying one out of frustration in finding a cheap alternative.

 

I am not sure if what your referring to is a funnel kit that comes with many types of engine adapters to fit various engines along with an elbow adapter when needed. There are various brands out there and some would be cheap and more cheaply made or ones that are more pricey but better quality. I had bought this kit from Lisle but don't let the msrp price throw you as some distributors sell for quite a bit less or at least my local industrial supplier did. The adapter twists in just like the cap does and then stick the funnel with its elbow adapter into the hole and its ready to go.

I have also seen this talked about on a youtube channel and while it does not turn to lock into place it would key into place is what I gather so it shouldn't flop over to the side, then you buy the specific funnel model that various stores sell that just drops into that adapter. I would have bought one of those to try first but being in Canada its so stupid to order anything direct out of the states that it would have cost many times the price so did not go down that road.  It says on this link as to the exact Flo tool model of funnel to get and ironically I own one ... all I needed was that yellow adapter.

That's good to hear as I had no personal experience with it since I had gone another route and hate to give out bad advice in case an item was a dud. GM sure could have done better by designing a neck that fastened on that faced straight up with the cap on it so a variety of funnels would just drop in ... but that would be too easy !. I imagine that if one packed that adapter with and that is all you had, you could add oil with a quart container and not create a mess like I imagine is almost impossible to avoid if one was trying to pour the oil straight into the hole.

I don't happen to be aware of anyone I know that has a 3D printer but that is quite the slick funnel you designed !

Thanks, I have a special 3D printed funnel for all of my vehicles. Some I found on the web and some I designed myself.

I have used Lucas bottles as an oil funnel for decades… this truck needs that angled piece and as soon as we figure out the part number then I will get it… but in the meantime I noticed the bracket for the second battery was hitting the oil jug… so I slightly bent it out the way and then cut a Lucas oil bottle like this to fit the angle of the valve cover and prevent  spills. use a Fram Endurance (same as Amsoil) and a magnetic plug

Ok found the part number that should work. 

 

12691785, which replaces part number 12670017… but unsure if it will contact that small rubber upper manifold hose…

The price is certainly right and had I known such an item existed I would have bought one and as long as it will install even if it did interfere slightly with the coolant hose that passes over that area, just use it as a filler elbow to allow a normal funnel to be utilized even if it was not kept in place. Cheap enough to buy and try it out.

I have to thank bruceb58 for the custom 3d funnel design! Yes, I now have a $250 funnel ($200 for the Creality Ender-V3 SE and $50 for a big box of filaments)    I was looking for an excuse to try this newfangled stuff.  And now I know what a "slicer" is.  And making a gcode file.  I was a programmer for over 50 years but this stuff was new to me.

 

And my 7-year old grand-daughter is excited because "all her friends have one".  It's a new world.

 

I haven't had an opportunity to try out the new funnel yet.  I think it took 6 or 8 hours to "print".

I am sure it does work good for the applications it was designed for, the problem with the L8T is that its on a severe angle as otherwise a typical funnel as well as one like you picture would work. I wasn't coming up with anything that was viable where I am due to being in Canada and certain shipping situations and duty from the states made it a no go to get the home made 3d printed elbow units and I never had heard about the GM adapter at that point. So I ended up buying a commercially available funnel/adapter kit that shops use ... cost more but I am happy with how its been functioning.

On whatever site I was on and probably wasn't the proper site to see all their offerings, that adapter never popped up, however again I wasn't coming across such funnels on Canadian automotive distributor type companies or that I could find and so often what I find in the states I can't find here and is cost prohibitive to have shipped. Never the less good to know that company figured out there is a need for that elbow adapter.
