I'm starting to get some minor rough idle when at a stop. The RPM doesn't jump but I can feel the idle bouncing. My Yukon Denali has 57k miles with the original plugs. The TBI was cleaned by the dealer under warranty around 32k when I complained of rough idle and the problem disappeared. Any advice on whether or not I should change plugs or pull the TBI for a cleaning?

I had the A/C stock platinums taken out at 95K miles. Never had problems with them. I switched to the iridiums and didn't notice any differences. I switched the stock wires out last week with MSD 8.5mm wires. Honestly, I can't tell a difference over stock plugs and wires. But the A/C Delco wire set was around $72 at O'Reilly, and the MSD was $76, so I went with them, of course.

Most people will never notice a difference with different brands of wires, or between the 3 AC/Delco plugs. I just notice the difference when I switch brands of plugs. Usually the type of plugs the vehicle came from the factory with will work the best for that vehicle.

I no longer buy expensive plugs, unless for the FWD "cars" that have a bank that is TOUGH (impossible) to get at. Then I'll get platinums and leave them in there a long time.

My 96 Sub's 7.4L Platinums were changed at 80K miles and again 50K miles later. 3rd set of Delco platinums and not going to again.

The hockey pucks on the ground electrode fell off on the 80K set and were about to fall off on the 50K set. Both sets had the ground electrode worn down too much.

Ditto on all of my other cars and trucks.

I'm going to go with mud hen plugs and change them often. Dependent on which vehicle, but surely in the 30K-40K range.

Instead of indexing them, I'm going to modify them by cutting off the ground electrode so that it's end/edge is centered over the positive electrode.

Picture is of a set of Delco Platinums modified and ready to go into my dad's Caddy STS. It will burn both front tires across any intersection and embarress most BEFORE this mod and now it runs even better.

For my 2 seater, NGK is the only brand and will try the newest, plus modify them as pictured below.

I've not had much luck with any of the three Bosch platinums on any of my vehicles (15 in the family and 5 that I take care of directly). I liked the old Bosch "T" series, which had 3 or 4 ground electrodes pointed to the center electrode's **SIDE**.

This is to expose the fuel/air mixture directly to the spark and the flame propagates better and faster than when shielded by OEM design (ground elctrode covers the center electrode). That is mainly for those engines which have fouling problems, but why should we get lesser performance for the small percentage that have fouling problems?

Could any of the 5 people running Bosch +4's post a short critique? I just bought a set to try but haven't put them in yet. I've heard everything from "they're awsome" to "they suck". I don't think a reputable company like Bosch would market them for 'modern cars and trucks' if they hadn't tested them and found them to be safe for our engines. Any info would be good. No bashing, just honest feedback, please. I plan to put them in 'just to see' regardless of the feedback.

I put in the bosch +4's at 100k and replaced the wires although cant remember what wires 75$ anyhow i havent had any problems at all and i currently have 156k 2000 silverado 5.3 even the stockers at 100k didnt seem all that bad just coulndt live with myself if i didnt change them

Just bought some AC Delco platinums to replace my originals last Friday from the dealer ($8.30 each). I also got a set of wires ($99). My 2000 Silverado Z71  has 94,000 miles on it.

Could the fact that I installed the Granatelli 0 ohm wires without changing out the stock plugs be causing my rough idle when stopped at a light?

I have 11k miles.

Thanks.
