Why would you do that? Don't you know that "GM engineers are looking into this issue at this time"?

Oh, I guess I had a brain f@rt.

I did my weekly call to GMC for an update. It took 45 minutes to clean my seats up on sunday, so I had a lot of time to kill with them today. The first two people I spoke with gave me the "Lint?" like I was crazy. They then looked it up but couldn't find anything. Gave them the TSB and both hung up on me when they went to "research" it. I drove by a chevy dealership and had the service dept. print me off a copy. Then I called again. Third guy also claimed there was never any problem with the seats. Said there was no bulletin in the system. I told him I looked it up online. He googled it and found it also. He said he wouldn't comment on it because there was no proof it was an actual GMC bulletin. I then told him I also had a copy from a local dealership. I told him I had the name and number of the woman who was able to find it in 10 seconds and could provide him with her contact info so she could explain to him how she was able to pull off this miracle. He then told me that although I can buy a copy of a bulletin they are only meant for service techs at local dealerships. He then said that was all he could say and he thought I should call sales and marketing? Now I have a district specialist calling me tomorrow. All in all I was able to waste an hour and twenty minutes of GMC's time. More if you count tomorrows call from the district guy.

It takes my mind off being stuck in traffic. I also have onstar transfer me so I don't waste cell minutes and am hands free.

He dont have access to the DealerWorld applications nor have access to anything "GM" except what might interest customers or potential customers. I cannot remember the name of the system that he uses to look up recalls but it aint GMVIS.....he does use Siebel (last I recall) 7.7 to record your information and a written summary and he answers phone calls all day long...documents em and ships em off to another idiot that typically answers the phones the same way the first idiot does. I know this because I used to work for Minacs before actually joining GM.....kinda like getting your foot in the door....I just find it funny because those phone reps have no clue what the hell they are talking about....that is why it was so much fun to talk to those idiots when calling the "GMC/Chevrolet Customer Assistance" number.

I would save the hassle and just send emails unless you want to get hung up on again.....that will piss some one off :D

I rode in my brothers '97 3/4 diesel with 199,000 miles this weekend and noticed his cloth seats are in better shape than my 2007 with 11,000 miles on them. How sad is that?

My seats are pilling and look like crap. I feel my issue should be treated separately from the lint tsp and simply be corrected under warranty. Unfortunately GM has put my issue in the same holding pattern at the lint issue. My seats have horrible lint too, but the pilling is the bigger problem. All the lint rollers in the world are not going to help when your seat fabric is balling up like an old cheap cotton sweatshirt.

Same story with my 99 196,000 miles and I would have loved to swith them with my 08. Lint, white balls and wearing really quickly on the drivers side edge.

I find that rolling does not work, but if I take the sticky stuff off the roller and press it down it does a good job of picking up the fuzz. An incredible pain as I have a brown dog and even thought he dog does not go in the cab of the truck, it looks like he does. I need to clean it almost daily. After 6k miles not as bad as it was, but sorry I did not get the next higher grade interior.

Filled my complaint today 71-619442955. The lady was actually kind of rude about the whole deal, She was reading it.. the words were kind and polite. but she was snotty about saying it.

I've spoken to one lady who was polite. The rest are rather annoyed that you bring it up or say anything after they say GMC is looking into it. Whatever that means....

What I don't get is....What the hell is there to look into? THESE SEATS COLLECT LINT!! End of story.

Steve, my driver seat started to pill at 5,000 miles. I took it to the dealer at 9,000 miles and after going through GM support and the dealer supervisor, they are replacing the seat cover. This took about two weeks, but it will do nothing for the lint problem.

I still haven't decided what I will end up doing with these seats.

Well POSSIBLE good news, I spoke with my service manager today who had a meeting with GM reps and brought this issue up,

obviously they stated that GM is standing firm on making people wait until there is a solution to the problem but, according to the reps, they have found a solution, a replacement for the current cloth that will resolve the problem and a supplier. They still havent stated a date when the parts will be out but it should be soon.

That's just about exactly what I heard. Let's hope we're actually close.

I hope so cause my warranty is about up!

Holy crap, Man. How? Are you serious?

On a side note. I'm not sure if you have to be under warranty or not for a TSB fix. Maybe one of the GM guys will chime in on that one.

    • People mislead themselves. Statistics are highly useful indicators.   Here's the tie-in to this thread. If an oil sample tests shows a wear indicator of 7 using cheaper ACDelco oil, and a wear indicator of 2 (lower = less wear) using a particular brand of Mobil oil, and wear has a linear relationship with engine lifespan, anyone could assume that Mobil is reducing wear by more than 50% (let's just say a 200% reduction for you red state people trying hard to do math) which leads to increasing engine life by 2x. Perhaps, in a vacuum, by itself, when dreamed by AI.   Yeah?! That's what the statistic is saying, isn't it?   No, it isn't. It didn't come out and say engine life is doubled. That's a very bad assumption, and a case of severe myopia by assuming something potentially untrue about the only data point in focus.   Average cost of a new car is 50k. You bet it is.   The median cost of a new car is more like 35k. Expensive cars are skewing the perception that "average" now means a $50k price of entry for a very average automobile. And that's not true. People who don't understand statistics twist the living heck out of them to mean all sorts of things they don't actually mean.   "Average" new car payment is $1000/month. Yep, it is. And in that number are all the $35k new car buyers who bring significant equity, and the $25k new car buyers who finance the car for a month just to get a rebate, and then pay it off. Know what isn't in that number? All the payments made by people who don't finance a car.   Picking one's own data point (don't have a car payment, never paid $50k for a new vehicle, my house cost $170k, I afforded a middle class lifestyle on $4.50/hr) is just a data point. Just like earning $25/hr in an area where the median home price is almost $1 Million is a data point. In fact, it's a lot of data points given that 80% of the US population lives in/around major cities. They're not idiots; the vast majority of them do it to make a living because that's where the big money is.   The highs have become higher, lows have become lower, and how your personal mileage varies is not truth for an entire country. At the same time you can't NOT acknowledge the data. While it doesn't paint YOUR personal picture, it certainly tints the reality that you also live in, as does your single data point.
    • Glad you had success with it. I did as well, but about 5-6 months later it returned. Tried again, same result. This was after the dealer made several attempts and never even got it to slow down.

    • I have a LTZ and it has the shifter in the console, which I like, but, every now and then, it will not stay in Reverse. I go through all the motions, hold the button in, push the shifter forward and watch the dash.  The big red R comes on and also the back up camera.  Then, it just pops out of Reverse with the shifter all the way forward.  So then the game begins.  Back and to Drive, Reverse.  This goes on 8 - 10 times. Very frustrating. Had it back to the dealer and they replaced some kind of computer, but it is now happing again. It is so bad, my wife will not drive the truck, she is afraid of being stuck somewhere.    Anyone else with this PIA problem?
    • I see where you’re going and I can appreciate that. Statistics can be misleading because of the word average. They say statistics show the average cost of a new vehicle is about 50k. The average monthly payment is close to 1000 dollars a month. That’s statistics for you. I know very few people who pay that.
