I was pretty annoyed by the dealer response so I called GM today. Guy on the phone was less than helpful. He said some kind of regional manager would call me in the next 24 hours. I'll let you guys know what he says.

haha, this happened to me a few months ago. called in and the gm rep said he never heard of a problem with lint on the silverado seats. i asked him about the tsb, he said it was rescinded, that there was no issue. asked to speak with a mgr, was told one would call me asap.

well, a day later i recvd a phone call from a mgr, and basically was offered a free oil change due to the inconvience. told him to keep it, that basically gm just insulted me.

gotta love how they pushed this one under the rug, and are trying to solve it by giving a free oil change. ohh, btw, he said my case was closed at this time. neat way to make his numbers better.

Amazing. The guy I spoke with on the phone couldn't find anything about a lint problem with the seats. He was looking for ten minutes. Finally I said hold on a second I'll google it. 30 seconds later I read the title and number to him. Fascinating. I can't wait to hear that there was a TSB ,but the problem never existed story. Upgraded seating at cost seems a little more reasonable.

They're trying to make the customers feel like idiots. A petition is the only way GM will actually do anything about it. Even then I wouldn't count on it.

I will be calling GM tomorrow. I took my truck to the dealer on Friday and showed them the lint, but more importantly I showed them the pilling on the drive seat. The service rep at Ernie Guzman GMC, Houston, TX looked at my seat for about 10 seconds and told me that the dealer cannot do anything about it and gave me the GM 800 number. Are you kidding me!

My truck is seven months old and the pilling on my seat started about two months ago. I have never had a problem with any truck or car seat before, nor have I ever had customer service like this. This is my first GM product and if GM does not resolve this problem, I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

As bad as it is, I think I could live with the lint. What I can't handle is the seat material pilling in a truck less than a year old. The dealer will not replace the seat cover and claims it is normal wear and tear. The driver's seat looks like an old worn cotton sweatshirt. The seats in my '98 didn't look this bad after 120,000 miles. I am going to keep pushing the issue.

can you believe it, normal wear and tear. it is a good joke by gm.. i bet someone somewhere is laughing at all of us.

I'm amused at how many would dump the GM trucks for something else because of lint on the seat. Mine has bad lint too, but swap for a gas guzzling Ford, poorly engineered Toyota, cheaply made Dodge, or limited configuration of Nissan. I'll take my lint thank you. There is always some in the belly button anyways.

It's like a very beautiful woman with a big hairy mole on her nose. She is still beautiful, but the mole is very distracting and you can't help staring at it.

As much as I love my truck the pilling seats is a flaw that no matter how hard I try I can't seem to ignore. When you add that I have never had this issue with any other truck I have owned and GM is acting like it is normal, it makes an otherwise small issue that much larger.

As much as I agree with you I think you might want to get some seat covers (although GM should pay for it in my opinion), at least you wont see it everyday that way, I am really thinking about getting some myself.

I took it in to the dealership that I bought the truck from today. They agreed that it looked like crap. He even said "it looks like all those little white balls are coming from the seat itself." Said he couldn't do anything since the TSB was cancelled. He said that GM and the manufacturer of the fabric were probably fighting it out and that was why it was taking so long. I said that was well and great, but I didn't buy my seats from a fabric company I bought them from GM. They should take care of it with the customer now and worry about it with the manufacturer on their own time.

No call from the regional manager. I gues within 24 hours means 24 hour -ISH.

Whether or not I could buy seat covers for myself is neither here nor there. I don't like seat covers and don't feel like I should have to use them to cover up some raggedy ass seats that everyone including GM knows look disgusting.

Well i filed my complaint with GM yesterday, had my dealership inspect the truck for the problem today, the service manager is pretty cool and is getting in touch with a regional rep as well as GM customer service is trying to help so far. Im taking this all the way to the top if i have to, A $50,000 duramax with every option but leather and NAV shouldnt have worse seat quality than a $9,000 aveo.

Just keep calling your dealerships and GM, make it a well known enough problem that they cant ignore it!
