just keep a freaking lint roller in the truck and quit complaining! Dont buy black cloth seats next time! I get lint but I clean it with lint roller and the problem is all gone! Well 4 a couple days but oh well...I'm not gonna let them change mine if they're gonna put a cheaper seat cover in....If it drives u guys that nuts go spend a couple hundred on some leather seat covers and be done with this thread!

For me it goes well beyond the lint problem. At 9,000 these covers are showing more wear than my '97 did at 120,000 miles. The lower seatback is balling up like a cheap cotton sweater. I already had to have a seam come apart on the driver’s seat when the truck was one month old and had to have it replaced. GM said they would replace these seats with ones with different fabric and were just waiting on parts. I will keep this thread going until a definitive answer is known.

I am having the same problem, the seat material is pilling on the lower back and I only have 7,000 miles. What a shame that GM is not taking steps to resolve this issue with the lint and pilling.

I started looking for seat covers, but I haven't found any that cover the botton of the rear seat. I want the bottom covered because when my dog rides in the truck, the rear seats are flipped up and it has a cloth bottom and that is where the dirt and dog hair collects.

man, being honest, these seats are terrible.

the lint is so bad, i cannot wear any dress suits at all. went to a funeral dressed up, looked like i never had my suit cleaned when i arrived and got out of the truck. that made me feel like a slob.

i think what needs to be done is, for someone to force the head of gm to drive this vehicle to work everyday for a month, (heck, not even a month, perhaps even a day) then drive it to his press conferences, to dinner with his wife, to any vehicle reviews, basically to drive this truck anywhere that people can see him in public wearing a ton of lint on his clothes from this great silverado. then allow them to look at the interior of this truck and gain some great publicity about this "Lint Collector Edition Silverado", i bet if that would happen, this seat lint issue would be resolved in a matter of seconds and someone would be fired for allowing this to happen along with allowing it to go on this long.

just my 2 cents

btw, i'm not sure who 1st came up with the lint collector edition statement, but i absolutely love it. it fits the truck perfectly.. instead of seeing texas editions on the roads, next year chevy will be creating decals that state lint collector edition..

Well guys I tell ya what, I have a 1996, the seats are great, they dont attract anything, and are super comfy, you can trade me one of your NBS trucks and I'll just put up with the lint!!! </cheeky rant>

after about a day in this truck, you would want your 96 back.

All joking aside, here are a few pics of my seats. I cleaned them down on Wed after work. Today is Friday. that is not that long of a time to accumulate this must lint. i work in an office, not out in the dirt. my clothes are washed, i am not a dirty person.

the first pic is the front of the seat. the 2nd pic is the back of the seat. now, how in the world does the back of the seat get so bad. no one has ever sat back there. again, this was cleaned just 2 days ago.

this is definately a serious issue. we are not making this junk up.

I just got off the phone with the Service Manager at the dealership. He was in contact with both the GM Tech Center and the Regional Rep earlier today. He told me three things:

1. NOTHING HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED.

2. THERE IS NO FIX.

3. THEY CAN'T FIND A SUPPLIER.

We are both in wonderment, how a company that's been in business as long as GM, would have an issue like this and be so slow to resolve it.

My front seat covers were swapped out in early October. The originals have long been sent back to GM. Honestly, the new covers are not any better than the originals. I hate having two different styles of seat covers; new ones in the front and originals in the back.

I've asked them to consider a price difference on upgrading to leather. He said he would check and get back with me, hopefully today.

Is this for all cloth seats? or just premuim cloth? i have base cloth in my GMC and its light grey...i really dont have an issue. not that i can notice that is.

i wonder if some sort of scotchguard product, prayed on will help it?

anyone try it?

I just ordered my 08 Silverado LT with ebony interior...now I'm starting to wonder if I should change the interior colour!! Is the lint not as bad on the lighter colours, or just not as noticeable because of the lighter colour?

I had my dealer apply a scotchgard/fabric protection product to my seats before I took delivery and it didn't help the lint problem at all. Actually I thought maybe what they applied caused the problem, to find out later its a widespread GM problem with these seats. I was told a fix is on the way. but who knows.

Before the Thanksgiving holidays I sent my dealer the TSB for the lint problem and they ordered the seat covers. I recieved a call 2 weeks latter saying that they had the covers in stock and asked me to bring my truck in. Well by the time I brought my truck in for service the service manager told me they recalled the TSB. I was kinda pissed. So if nothing happens in the next 6 months, I am going to get leather seat covers because I can't stand my new truck's interior looking like a lint trap! -rant off-

Your seats were not the ones the TSB applies too. Your seats are not the lint magnet seat covers. The initial solution was to replace the premium cloth with your fabric, which is not the premium cloth. Perhaps if you did have the seats that attract more lint you would realize the significance of this problem.
