Tsb On Ebony Seat

All GM has to do is use the same material/fabric they used in the GMT400 & GMT800 trucks.

I never had any issues with those seats,I had 3 GMT400 & 2 GMT800 trucks.

Plus it was a better looking material.

Yeah but it probably weighs 0.0025 ounces heavier than the stuff they use now so it causes the mileage to go down. Too much stuff they put on these new trucks is decided by weight etc...rather than what a TRUCK really needs.

they should simply make a stronger lighter frame to offset the 'increases' in weight of the old seat cover :nopity:. I am glad I still have my GMT800, no problems here with the lint, but seriously that sucks.

I just got off the phone with GM Customer Relationship Specialist, Megan Whittington.

She informs me that GM is aware of the issue and that, unfortunately, at the current time, there is no solution. She said that the engineers are "looking into it" but that with people like me writing and calling in, it can help motivate GM to solve the problem faster. Hilarious. I told her that the most frustrating part of this entire situation was not the lint but the fact that we were offered a solution, then told that solution was not appropriate and then told to wait on what now seems to only be the possibility of a solution. She assures me that GM is very concerned and diligently looking for a solution. Again, hilarious. Maybe after I trade it in in a few years the next guy will get some new seat covers. I mentioned that I'd be willing (if the price was right) to pay the difference for leather seat covers, her response: GM does not suggest that as a solution as it can upset the passenger airbag sensor calibration. Worst excuse ever. Two or three pounds should not make a difference on the lower seat cover. I place all sorts of items on my seat all the time without turning on the passenger airbag.

Anyway, that's where things stand at the moment.

Call them and let them know your thoughts. Be nice though, the people there are only feeding you the BS they are given to feed you. The number to the center is 1-866-790-5700.

Start blowing up their phones but be remember to be courteous. If any of you guys have accounts on other sites, let those guys know as well. The more they hear about it, the better!

Maybe the problem is GM needs "engineer" to look into the problem at all. We're talking car upholestry here - not the intricate workings of a computer on the vehicle. For decades we've managed to put good cloth interiors in cars both in this country and abroad with "engineers". Gasp - even some "hobbiest" types have done it at home.

How hard is it to try a different material....I guarantee GM has some company they buy the material from to begin with that can provide whatever data they need....well except how much this is going to cost GM and that's the real story.

it is all standard replys - mostly scripted and BULL**IT. GM will get around to it when they find an 'economical' solution.

you should ask them if they are in the austin site, ontario (canada) site, the detroit site or the tampa site (if they are still open)

this would be considered 'propaganda' and '3rd party views' regarding the subject. I know, I used to work there and I would use what you guys found for a solution and 'suggest' it to DVMs and SMs. But it never was official. Everyone here has more brains and common sense than the regular 'engineers'....
