Okay where should i start...

Like 6 months ago broke the g80 locked up the rear end and killed my tranny when it happened.

Put another used locker in it and the rear end is all good.

Now i have to fix my transmission. The trucks is a nbs 99 2500 4x4.

Broke about $300 worth of hard parts in the tranny.

The trans appears to be a goodwrinch rebuilt one.

The truck has 226k miles. I'm pretty sure the motor is all original...

I rod the piss outta everything.

I'll have my car (95 volvo 850 5cyl turbo) paid off in a few weeks. Gonna sell it and fix my truck.

Should get $2500-3000 for it.

Need to decide what to do to the truck.

Want the transmission to hold up to my abuse.

What clutches are the best in your guys opinion?(alto, Raybestos, etc?)

I plan on putting in a shift kit and getting the computer flashed.

I'm thinking about:

$300 hard parts for tranny

$150 shift kit

$150-400 clutches.

$200 tune (that about what black bear tune cost?)

I figure i should have around 2k left after that.

Trying to decide what to do.

I want a mild cam for sure

Thinking about getting heads. (l92s?)

I have exhaust (dual 3" i believe). there much gain to be had with the shorty headers?

What would you guys do to your motor if you had about 2k to throw at it? I'm 18 and usually racing around town at night and the truck will occasionally see the strip on the weekends and I do pull trailers and pretty much use the truck for everything. I on average put over 100 miles a day on my odo...

Sorry for the long post and thanks for those that give advice

Are you doing the work yourself? How do you know what parts are shot? Dont forget about labor, I'd factor in another $800 for it.

You asked about headers...go long tube or nothing.

In my opinion...the shortys don't do much more than the stock manifolds...other than sound.
