Nothing too crazy, just installed boost auto dual function (cargo and reverse) wiring harness. This way the LED lights on my tow mirrors will turn on when the truck unlocks at night and automatically when I put it in reverse. This still gives me the ability to turn them on with my cargo lights as well. Nothing major just a nice feature.

Other then a flow master muffler this is my first mod on the truck.

Finally finished the rear wall platform and latest audio install in my 2016 Regular Cab today. Everything including the sub enclosure is built from Baltic Birch plywood and I’ll post full construction pics on my build log when I get a chance. I added a bolt to the cover I made for the seatbelt mechanism so I could mount the jack tools using the original mounting hardware since I used the original stud as a mounting point for the platform. I also added a mesh storage pocket and will install a couple more smaller ones in the open areas for my flashlight etc next to/under the amp (tired of hearing stuff roll around in my jump seat)

I'm dealing with my Sr. Citizen girl, Daisy- 10 year old going on 11, Lab/Golden mix. She's a gentle giant who loves everyone and other dogs, but her vision is getting bad, and she's loosing a lot of of her hair which has the vet concerned. She's already being treated for thyroid issues, so we are trying to adjust the levels after a recent check showed them too high. I hope she stays healthy enough to be with me a few more years. She's been a wonderful friend these past 10 years which have been hard on me. Mollie on the other hand has made it thru a cancerous tumor and is doing well and very high energy at 6 years old. A faithful "daddy's girl" who gets jealous of other people and dogs around me but always softens up. <sigh> I plan to have a German Shepherd someday. I love Labs, Goldens, Beagles, Australian Shepherds, and Border Collies, but I've always wanted a German Shepherd ever since having helped train several Police K-9s back in the day. Here is my 10 year old Daisy. Mollie as a Pup. She's part Lab and part Cocker Spaniel.

Amen. Not all of us want to be stereotyped as the typical truck douche. The 2.7 is more fun to drive than the 5.3 IMO.

My fix was to black box the ECM (If I literally ever need to get to it, I'll grind the welds off) and get an aftermarket alarm.

Personally I like the front windows a little less dark. As a retired LEO,I'll tell you I did cite vehicles with very dark windows. The dark windows gives LEO's a reason to stop and detain you. It sets up a situation for further investigation for warrant checks etc. It was my job to arrest and book people! It just isn't worth it to do a black out of front windows. Don't draw unwanted attention to you.

So the wife has decided 'we' need to do something about this COIVID-15 (plus) we've each put on. Doc suggested some form of the mini fast method which in all reality is calorie restriction. Started around the first of the month and so far I've lost 12 pounds. I can't do a true fast as some of my medications require food but on those days I eat something like an apple and a few nuts just before pill time and it seems to work okay. This thing started with a three day fast. Just water. Then we eat for 3 and fast 1. Me being me, I've been keeping charts. I'll warn you up front about dieting with your spouse. Men just loose weight faster than women and they get testy about it. This has got me back in the kitchen. Not sure that's a good thing. ?

Hey All, Been lurking here for a few months and got some good tips on mods and troubleshooting for my 2016 Silverado and just wanted to post here as a heads up to the 2015 - 2018 Silverado and Sierra owners. Hadn't seen anyone posting here or heard anything official from OnStar or GM about this issue but I recently had my 2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 stolen and there appears to be a flaw in the GM or OnStar security for this year range of truck. From the security cameras at my work it looks like the thieves were able to get into the truck somehow, pop the hood, do something in the engine bay and drive off with it in under 5 min from arrival. Talking to the cops they said the newer Silverados are getting hit hard and popular for theft. Found some articles after the fact and it is apparently happening a lot in north Texas, one of the guys in the article link below had his Silverado stolen with the thieves using this same method of attack they did on mine and they disabled his active OnStar on board. My Silverado didn't have an active OnStar subscription but it did have it installed. Truck was definitely locked with windows up and I still have both sets of keys, no broken glass and the alarm system never went off in a populated office parking lot. It is, and that leads to a lot of poop, Huskies have an incredibly high metabolism, so in one hole and right out the other.... That is why they are walked once a day, helps on the amount in our yard.

There is another thread where a member is looking to replace his 4.3 in a Silverado at 250k miles. I don't know if he ever found out what was exactly wrong with the engine or what kind of maintenance it had received. I'm sure Pepper is good for a million!

Congratulations on your loss! We struggle with the Covid15 as well and I'm going to share your plan with the best half. I chuckled with the loss discrepancy between you and your wife because this has periodically caused frustration in our house. Losing a pound requires a far greater commitment from her. I love the TV commercials of all the unfulfilled weight loss and personal improvement goals generated by more home time during this pandemic. Guilt is a powerful motivator! I'll start tomorrow....?

I think it looks great. Coming from a guy who used to tint windows. I love mine dark but like others have said, police probably won’t bother you when they can see an outline of you. When you start to go real dark. They harass you. I had 5% all around my last suv and 20% windshield and I got pulled over 3 times in less than 2 months. Not worth it also you want darker on back for kids because factory don’t is just a dye, u don’t get any heat rejection from it. Here is my truck. I also have a 5% strip on front. I don’t do windshields anymore. To much of a hassle. truck looks sharp

I did 20% on everything but the windshield. Part of it is my OCD that I don't like having different shades on the inside looking out. And I don't like that people can see in from behind me so I just did everything. There is a contrast between the front and rears but it's not terrible. Anything darker and its super hard to see out of at night...especially when it's raining. I think yours looks good the way it is...my .$02

Hmm... how strange. Don't think I've seen that before. Thanks, I wasn't in it for any hp gains. The 6.2 has plenty as it is. I just wanted to be able to hear all that power and now I can. I've got Corsa on my Vette though and I love it.

Put these in over 2 years ago, still working great. First thing you notice though, they are bright and kind of overpower the factory camera (hope that makes sense), so keep your foot on the brake while backing up, between the 2 light sources, it makes a big improvement over the factory bulbs.

I agree on the blank switches. As soon as I have time to figure out the lighting that blank area will have one of these individual switches to turn on every light at the same time. I was going with the toggle but it did not match so these Toyota ones may.

I went with 15% up front to match the back. I love it MOST of the time. It’s rough when backing a trailer in the dark, even with auxiliary lighting. I usually roll down my windows, but don’t during mosquito season. Slow and steady! I try not to bring attention to myself on the road, so I’m not too concerned with the law enforcement issue. Like everything, it’s a balance. I know this is a highly debated topic, but I also tinted the windshield 50%. I really really like the windshield tint, but I also understand why it’s such a hot button for others. I haven’t experienced any issues with visibility, but 99% of my driving is on well-lit roads or highways.

Looks good to me. Your local law enforcement wouldn’t like it darker I’m sure.

They body shop that did the work ordered them all through a local GMC dealer. All in it was not cheap. I'm not sure how the OP got it all for $800. Hood and all the parts and 3 stage paint and everything was around $2k. I got lucky on it b/c the hood was damaged anyway so I just paid the difference of replacing the stock hood with the HD.

They really do need a boost with this engine. I have it and like it a lot, but Ford and RAM are both north of 400hp now with their 5.X liter engines. With Ford getting some wild #s out of their Powerboost engines, it’s no longer good enough for GM to rely on the 6.2L as an upsell for someone who wants a 400hp V8. It wasn’t long ago when hitting 400hp in a light duty truck V8 was a pretty big deal. War is war and GM is falling behind with their power outputs.

I find it interesting to read all the discussion and complaints about the interior finish. This is my first truck and I've had four German SUV's since 2008. The fit and finish and technology in my 2020 Denali is every bit as good as any vehicle I've had.

Ok so to update my story. I ended up buying the GM factory performance exhaust. (Same thing as the Borla touring but Borla will not sell you a side exit touring. I have no idea why this is their policy). It sounds amazing. I will need to figure out how to upload the before and after videos here but with the headers and catless, the Borla tames the sound down when you aren't getting into the power. Highway driving is almost at stock level noises. Around town you hear the rumbling, no drone at any speed or gear. If you are going to go headers and catless but still need to pull into an office parking lot, I would recommend this setup. The truck was tuned with these modifications as well so it's really come alive.

I had come to hate the limited package. It was a 4wd "street" truck, 22's with street tires. When I bought it I was admittedly drawn to the new look and all the tech stuff. I like trucks that are set up more for off road. I ended up leasing it so I never bothered replacing the wheels/tires. So a couple weeks ago my salesman texted me and asked if I still had the truck. I guess the used car market is really hot now and they were trying hard to get them. At first I thought it was a typical dealer gimmick but come to find out it's true, it wasn't just them, lots of dealers are looking for used cars. I brought the truck down to get it appraised and an offer. I still had 14 months left on my lease but they made a great offer and I ended up making some money off of it. So then I decided maybe the Rebel was a better fit for me. I wanted a 21 because thats when Ram started coming out with the HUD and rear view camera mirror. Again I love that techy stuff LOL. The price for the truck with all the options I wanted was around $66K. Only downside to the Rebel was that it didn't have cooled seats, only perforated. The other trim level I considered was the limited longhorn, it could be set up similar to the Rebel but it would have been over $70k. I have never been interested in Ford so I started looking at the Silverado and Sierra. I wanted the diesel but the only trims I could find them in was the LTZ. I found one I liked that had a great price with all the options I wanted so I sent a message to the dealer. I then started looking at the Sierra AT4, I liked it a lot better than the LTZ, no chrome!. No offense to my Silverado brothers but I really liked the looks of the GMC better. Only downside to the GM trucks is that the interior doesn't compare to the Ram (I really love that 12" screen!) but it was something I could live with considering all the other cool features it has. Seemed like all the AT4's around Austin were either black or white. I've been done with black cars for a long time LOL and I never really liked white. I was more looking for the darker gray color (I forgot the name of it) but then I saw the satin steel at a dealership in San Antonio. They were advertising it for $10K off sticker ($6k GM incentive and $4k dealer discount). It had all the options I wanted. I contacted them but of course it had been sold. I then checked another dealer in San Antonio and they had 3 of them, only minor negative thing about the trucks was that they all had the 20" wheel option. I wanted the 18" with the better tires. So I went to test drive the truck and I loved it! I really loved how it drove and how it felt and the 20's actually looked good. The dealer discount was only $500 but they matched the other dealers discount. Only negative is that it comes with running boards which gets put on at the dealer but they are back ordered, so i'll need to go back to put them on. I'm 5'11" but it still a good hike to get up and down out of that cab! There are some nit picky stuff I don't like about that truck. While i'm on break at work I sit in the truck and listen to music for an hour. In this texas heat I have the engine running for the AC. Well the truck shuts down after like 15min of idling and acc mode shuts off after like 10 min. Pretty inconvenient. I also wish they put a page with a list of all your gauges displayed digitally like you can in the ram. While i'm on break I monitor the battery V to make sure I don't go below 12.1V. With this trucks analog gauge you can't see where 12V sits. Again, just nit picky stuff. Overall I like the interior with the exception of that little tiny baby infotainment screen. LOL Sorry for the long winded explanation but it's hard describing the method of my madness LOL. I'm enclosing another pic, I just got it back from being ceramic coated. Pics don't do it justice though.

Back into a GM truck after 3 years. 2020 Sierra AT4 Carbon Pro with the Duramax. Loving this truck! Coming off a 2019 Ram 1500 limited. There are certain little details I like better about the Ram but overall I'm enjoying driving this truck a lot more! Scott

Let me see if I can simplify this a bit for you guys. First of all, The picture in the link with the quad tips is not the correct picture but I will get to that later. The GMPE system IS the Borla Touring System. It is built at Borla and DEALER installed. If you order the package when you order the truck it is still a dealer installed item. The GM "branded" version is only available with the bent tailpipes for the factory bumper tips. The Borla "aftermarket" systems are available with the bend for the factory tips or straight tailpipes that will accommodate different tips. Borla offers three choices of their tips. A Borla Touring system with quad tips will be EXACTLY the same as the GMPE system except it wont have the tiny bend at the end of the tailpipe so you can slide tips on it. All of the other piping, joints, muffler and pipe size are identical. Again, speaking about 2019+ 6.2L Borla Touring and GMPE systems. The Sport and ATAK systems are also exactly the same except for muffler/resonator and are available in the same configurations. -Eli

Pretty sure the GMPE and the Borla Touring are exactly the same. Regardless I love my GMPE. Growls to life on a cold start but isn't going to wake the neighbors. My daughter tells me she likes it when she hears me start the truck from inside the house and knows when I'm leaving for work in the mornings. It turns heads when starting it via remote start in a parking lot but doesn't look silly when a middle aged dad like me climbs behind the wheel. Let's me know it is there when I step on the gas but didn't bother me on a 7 hour drive down the interstate. I also love the look of the quad tips.

It's a tail gate, not a rear hatch for an SUV. You purchased a truck, a darn good one at that, but if you wanted a water proof rear area you should have purchased an SUV. Common sense prevails in this discussion, its a TAIL GATE on a TRUCK, lol.

I'm another with the GMPP exhaust, but I also have the GMPP CAI too. It's quiet while crossing at highway speed, but put the throttle down and it rumbles to life. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Spent a few bucks on eBay for some engine dress up.

I have the GMPP exhaust and intake on a 6.2L and I like the sound like others are saying...loud-ish at start-up and acceleration but quiet cruising. I often think about possibly switching to the S-type for a bit more sound...but the wife and kids may not like it...
