  2. When I get those comments about my origins (like "Nazi" or "Heil Hitler" etc)., all what pops into my mind is "at which grade did you drop out of school? 3, 5...?" so long j-ten-ner

  3. Ya know, I called my dealership yesterday. Small town dealership too. And, I explained what I wanted to do, and they said no problem. I was very happy to hear that. They're even gonna let me use a NAPA Gold Filter too. I asked to make sure, if this would in any way void my warranty and they said no. They said the oil is Dexos Gen 2 approved and the main thing is being able to prove that the oil was in fact changed in case something happens. I really like this little dealership.

  4. Every year we get a new date decal to affix to our license plates. I am very careful with the process when dealing with my truck, car and motorcycle . However, my 1966 homemade utility trailer simply has the decal slapped on to cover the previous years' decal. I decided to be more careful when I renewed registration yesterday because it's going to get another rebuild/refresh if Covid keeps me from travelling this spring. I knew the decal situation was getting out of hand and this was confirmed when I peeled down to July 1990! This is how my trailer looked shortly after its last refresh. The frame was blasted and painted. Wood, axle, springs and wheels were replaced. The decal was for fun but the trailer works hard and is out in the open all year round.

  6. The "new car smell" is actually a carcinogenic toxic soup.

  7. Auto start/stop isn't saving you a dime. All that fuel "saved" gets wasted on startup. AFM/DFM are what actually make an MPG impact on these trucks.

  8. Hey there! I can share my experience on this exact topic. I originally purchased a '19 1500 LTZ for the purpose of towing my new 37' travel trailer. The tow limits were easily in spec, and everybody told me it would be great, especially with my fancy, expensive sway control hitch system. Well, it was not great. Like others in this thread have stated, I was constantly pushed around by semi's and the wind. If you ever park your TT on the side of an interstate you will be amazed by how much it moves when the traffic is passing by. It's crazy the sail area they have. The Wife was always giving me the side-eye, lol. It was at times...unsettling. The power with the 5.3 was honestly adequate, but for sure I could have used more power- especially on long hills. So... I traded to a 2500 LTZ Gas, almost the exact same truck but 3/4 ton. The difference is amazing! First, the power is great. It never feels like it's struggling, it just digs in and pulls. On long hills, it will rev and hold, but that's what gas engines do. The grade braking is great too. Just tap the brake when in Tow Mode and it downshifts instantly, it even rev matches so it's super smooth. It will do this for every gear as you slow down too. I never have issues maintaining a manageable speed downhill. The other amazing difference is how well the 2500 handles the wind. Night and day. No drama. I would never, EVER again tow a large TT without a 2500. No more watching the mirror for speeding semi's with my hand on the brake controller. So, in summary, yes the 6.6 is more than fine, it's an awesome combo for towing!

  10. Well, I have posted before about the ever present issue of the auto stop feature not working, I know many here don't care for the feature, but with our gasoline over $4 a gallon now, it's important to me). The last time it was in the dealership was on the phone with the factory, and once again I was told it was fixed.....I drove home (12 miles) from the dealership, took the freeway to get it good and warm, turned off all the climate controls (even though I think I should be able to use them) went to a stop light and....nothing! This was the 4th time I had it in to get this feature fixed, each time they tell it's fixed and the first opportunity to use it nothing happens. I also had an issue with my infotainment screen going blank and popping up with a "No Content Found" error, they did a firmware update and it worked fine until last week when I noticed that when I opened the driver side door after shutting the engine down, the radio would keep on playing for several seconds and then it would shut down. It never did that before it used to stop as soon as I would open the door. Then on Friday I was stopped at a light and the infotainment system went blank, no sound no display it lasted about 15 seconds then came back on. Anyhow, I have decided to pursue the lemon law on this truck (I have contacted a lemon law attorney), as this is absolutely ridiculous for a truck with still under 2000 miles on the odometer. I don't know if the problems are as a result of the trucks being built in Mexico, but I am tired of it being in the service department for weeks at a time and the problems don't get fixed.

  12. I'm kinda in between. I had a '77 J10 Honcho with a 401 cui engine, I sold it before I moved to Canada. Still regret it, but at the time I didn't have much of a choice. Life got in the way of pursuing my desire to purchase a "new" one, but I'm getting itchy again. It's hard to find a matching # truck with a 401. And, I'm not the only one looking for a truck in decent shape and all original. ... so long j-ten-ner

  15. That might be true for you, but would you take your air conditioner out because of the additional wear and tear on your cooling system? The auto start/stop is a feature that when the vehicle is purchased was an added cost to the base price. As you stated, it can be turned off, but for a brand new vehicle EVERYTHING should work whether I want to use it or not. The liabilities or benefits of a feature should be MY choice, not GM's.

  17. When I took my truck in for service in December, the dealership performed an update that seemed to help with the "No Content Available" error, and I had read there GM released a f/w update late last year. I am pretty sure that will help you with your issue, but it sounds like you have the same blanking out issue that I do after having mine updated. Mine JUST STARTED the radio playing on after open ing the driver side door, to which I will have them look at the next time I take it in. Never had so many issues with a single Chevy in my life. I am so glad my '57 Chevy is low tech...

  19. Coinciding with the pandemic we have experienced a heightened awareness of how we treat each other. We don't have a say on where we are born or on our DNA but we have control of our words. "Canuck", for example, is a word that can be a friendly reference but used in the manner above is derogatory (slur). I would have requested such a comment to be removed, but it does speak to something many of us have done during our Covid19 spare time. I have made a concerted effort to increase my awareness of how I reference or speak about other people. There are terms that we know are wrong but others that require more research. I once thought that referring to myself as "colour blind" was an acceptable stance on racism. Researching this opened up a whole new level of understanding. This time last year I would have been insulted by your comment but not as offended. However, we all need to stop discrimination, even in jest. Below is an excerpt from an article I found online regarding the term "Canuck". It also shows discussion on this term has been around for decades. In his book, "Safire's Political Dictionary," Martin's colleague William Safire noted that the Oxford English Dictionary labels it “in U.S. usage, generally derogatory” but then he quoted from a 1977 letter to him from then Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau: (Pierre Trudeau was our PM and is the father of our current Prime Minister) When the term "Canuck" is preceded by dipshit there is little doubt on the intent. I have no issue with you expressing concern over anything I've written and I welcome the opportunity to explain myself. However, if I continue while ignoring this issue then it suggests I support the use of slurs against others.

  23. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems. If it were then self governance would have solved climate change, hunger, sickness and death. I to worked in the oil/gas/chemical field for over 40 years. Could as easily been coal, solar or nuclear. Simple truth? Man has no idea. Electric world? It brings its own problems that are just as large and just as unknow as fossil was 100 plus years ago. Every time man thinks he has its figured something out, he figures wrong. Asbestos ring a bell? Tabaco? Thalidomide? One thing man has perfected. Arrogance. https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/is-there-enough-lithium-to-maintain-the-growth-of-the-lithium-ion-battery-m We have less lithium than oil reserves. Read it all...not just the parts you like. Then delve into the notion that this resource will be mined on the backs of the exploited. Lord man, think past your nose. We have no solution to the problems of humanity. God gave us the freedom to choose as we please. Just not the ability to do so.

  30. yes. setting in the options for audio. just a simple on or off. NOTE: I keep the audio on for the following.... not every pixel is as clear as what you see from the drivers seat. it's always a safe bet to say the license plate number on any car you have just been in an accident with! Wife had a hit-and-run and she had the license plate in a clear portion of the video from a few miles before the accident, but we are thankful there was also the audio of her saying the plate number. otherwise, dont be shy to belt out your best "baby baby baby...."

  44. I would have thought that GM would have offered some body side molding protection on the 2019 given that the Doors are now Aluminum! Nothing is offered even on the WT model! I had a local shop order and install a set of body colored side moldings for my Doors. I am pretty happy with the results and unless I emphasis them in photos you do not even notice them!
