As long as your knuckles are still in one piece, then it's a tie. ;)

Wasnt using it as a hammer nor did I use a pipe with it. I was replacing the blade on my edger, I had the blade locked in my vise. Bolt was on pretty good. Had the bar and an 11/16th socket on the bolt and hit it with a plastic mallet, 2 hits and it broke. I have used it many times before (on the vehicles breaking bolts lose) with no issues, no real heavy use, thats what my half inch one is for this one is only 3/8". Its going back tomorrow to sears.

Knuckles didnt sustain any damage, right before it happened I actually put some gloves on

Hey, Ryan; it broke, didn't it? What did you expect? LOL If I were you, I'd feel pretty good that I could break the dang thing. Matco Man'll sell you one that will stand up, but it won't cost like a Sears. You ain't bleedin', don't worry 'bout it!

I would say the edger won that battle then. I use a 3/8" impact for changing the blades on mine. I also have a 1/2" Dewalt Cordless Impact that works well for that stuff. If you don't have or need power tools, then I would recommend a 1/2" ratchet with a long handle. I have 2 that are S-K I think, and the handles are probably 16" long. They work pretty well for anything that is fairly tight.

The question is - Did you finally get the nut off the edger shaft?

It won the battle but I won the war. Yep right after that I got it off with my 3/8" ratchet.

Also got the bar replaced, no questions asked today
