Wagner Or Duralast? Or Something Else.

Which brake pads do the majority prefer? Price IS an option. O'Reilly's has Wagner pads for 63 and Autozone has Duralast gold for 59. Or is there some other brand I should look at for around the same price?

I use wagner and don't have any problems with them. It really shouldn't be much of any difference between those two brands.

I've seen (heard) way to many sets of autozone pads squeal like crazy... My brother warrantied several sets of the Duralast Gold pads on his K3500 dually before just paying for a set of Bendix.

Make SURE you get their ceramic pads. They stop great, last forever, and NO NOISE! I've used O'reilly's premium ceramics on several vehicles now with great success..

We sell the wagner thermoquiets at our store. I put a set on my truck and they're great. No noise, stop nice, zero problems. Just remember when you do the job to replace the caliper hardware (a lot of the thermoquiets now come with it in the box!) and put caliper grease on anything that touches metal on metal like slides and caliper pins. That's a huge reason for braking noise, not usually the pads themselves.

By caliper hardware I assume you mean the clips and pins. Are all thermoquiets ceramic? Heading to O'Reillys soon.

No they do make semi-metalic also, it all depends on what your vehicle came with from the factory. If in doubt, ask the counterman helping you. Although, being a counterman myself I would highly suggest putting on pads with the same composition as what your vehicle came with from the factory (i.e. ceramic or semi-metalic)

Ok, great replies and lots of help. Now I'm into the installation and have run into a problem. I've got the new rotors on and pads but the pads are real tight and do not move freely. What have I done wrong? They did come with new slider hardware and I installed that.

Did you retract the caliper piston before starting? If not then do so now.
