whats up guys just signed up here. i have looked around the site here and there and figured i would sign up. im not an owner of a GM truck. My current truck is an f250 :dunno: . not so proud of that purchase. i have owned nothing but gm vehicles untill this one and it has been the worst mistake i have ever made. But in the next few month we will be in the market for a silverado. so here is my story....

as i stated i have a 1990 f250 351W 4x4 with 105k. when i bought this truck i thought it was a steal but this thing has been a pain in my ars. ive put at if not more than 1k into parts and its just one thing after another. i bought the truck as a work truck and i didnt want to beat up on a gm truck so i figured i would buy ford so i can have some fun beating the heck out of it while i drive it, and i have. But its been beating the heck out of me. so now were looking at getting a silverado her in a few month and i can really decide what i want... what im looking for is better fuel economy and something that can hold some weight. right now i get on average 7mpg with the ford. i know im going to get a 4x4 as the winters here in kansas can be big. and its going to be an extended cab. but ive been juggling between the motor options and the series trucks. The truck would be used for both work and the once a year travel to NC 1k mile trip. so the travel part would would need a fuel economy that not too shabby. And my work would be what i would need the truck to haul materials. i have carried 3000 pounds of cement once so it would need to handle that maybe once a year. what has been bugging me is that the 5.3 gets some good MPG but can only carry what 1500 pounds in the back and the 6.0 2500 can carry some good weight but lacking big time in the MPG. am i right in what i have said or am i off? what have you guys seen as far as fuel economy with the 6.0? as far is i can tell the only happy medium is getting the 6.6 diesel but the price of diesel is always higher and the price fora diesel is out of my budget. unless i can talk the wife into changing the budget but you know how that goes... sorry if this seems all over the place but its really been racking my brain trying to figure out which truck would be best for me.

p.s. im sure i have spelling mistakes lol, ill have to change them later when im not dozing off :P
