jdubub Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 A buddy and I were talking about this a few months ago. He is about to go get a 2010 CTS-V. But I think this would be effin awesome
MikeNH Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 A GM pickup with a stout LSx engine in it? That isn't anything terribly new/ground breaking. 600+ HP is awesome, don't get me wrong but back when I had my 03 guys were getting numbers like that.

Too bad GM is not doing it or at least selling it. At least Ford made the Lightning, and is making the Raptor. Saw that US version of Top Gear, they had a Ford approved modified Raptor that puts out at least those numbers, and you can buy it now. Don't feel the need to bow to LS9 Silverado that I cannot get with warranty.

And your point is? People have been getting 600+ HP out of LS-type engines for ages now. I fail to see what makes this so special other than the fact that I am sure that engine cost far more than a normal built LS engine would.

If you take a person, who has little knowledge about automobiles, what are they going to recongize first, the name ZR1 or hey, I built a really bad ass engine for my truck? Not to mention the fact that a ZR1 LS9 engine can be had straight out of the GM Performance Parts catalog as a drop in install. Not many other LS based engines that can be had out of a catalog and dropped in, with that kind of power. Before you balk, I agree with you. I would build looooooooooong before I'd dump the $$$ to put an LS9 in my truck. People with lots of money though, think the exact opposite so then, they have this option.

KMGZ400 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 and that link is probably the last we will ever hear of a ZR1 powered silverado.
