A Badly Needed Option.

There is one option that needs to be offered to the Silverado line up and that is a

6spd manual tranny.

Espeacially to us 6.2 liter owners, that would be a killer combination. :dunno:

Someone needs to get that idea to the GM engineers so they can mod a manual tranny and offer one in the coming years.

Just a thought :dunno:

Unfortunately its not gonna' happen,GM has been saying ever since they dropped manual transmissions a few years ago that the market just is not there for them.

They really need to offer one behind the Duramax! :dunno:

Interesting thought Im still getting used to the auto 6spd coming from a gm 4sp for years its still a major improvement.

GM sells about 500000+ trucks a year and since there is only a 2% demand or 10000 manuals its just not cost effective. EPA testing for an engine family costs 1 millon + dollars just to certify it.

Well it may not happen through GM, but I'm sure someone will do it.

It would be one heck of a mod to the truck and would be a blast to drive.

I own several manual transmission pieces of equipment (most are green or orange in color) and I don't mind shifting them. But if I am going to drive it every day. Give me an AUTOMATIC....... Let it take the pressure off my left foot.... I need it to hit the brake pedal anyways.

I think they should also come up with a 2-speed differential. How many threads are on this forum about regearing the diff for economy, towing, etc? A solid 2-speed diff with hi and low would be awsome.

I agree it would be a blast to drive. I had manuals all my life until I met my wife. Her family is a truck family. I went from a lowered celica to a nissan pathfinder and the rest is history. One thing is for sure though. A 6.2 with a manual is not beating a 6.2 with an auto in a race if that is what your looking for. but again it would be fun. :sigh:

I'd love that kind if option. I was dreaming of that the other night, as a matter of fact. How cool would that be? Gas mileage one day, towing beast the next. However, I bet it wouldn't be offered in the half tons, unfortunately.

GM still offers the manual transmission on 1/2 tons for sale in Mexico. Maybe some south of the Border shopping is in order for you...

V-6 only though... :sigh:

It's called a Gear Vendors over/underdrive. $$$ but it can do what you want.

Cheap mans way would be to use a tcase on a 2wd truck
