I have a GMT-800 that is starting to get a little long in the tooth. Thinking about upgrade over the next year. Do any of you guys feel buyers remorse with going from the 800's to the 900s? On this board there seems to be quite a few complaints on quality. Overall opinion, is it better than your 800 was when it was brand new?

No regrets whatsoever. I feel the gmt 900 is superior to the gmt800

I thought I would miss my old truck but I have not

Keep your GMT 800 with the nice upholstered door panels, the soft dash, the strong bumpers, the V-8 that is always a V-8 and doesn't burn oil, the body panels that don't bend if the wind is too strong.

I'd trade my 09 for my 2000 back straight across in a second. Don't take a drink of the kool-aid.

I work at a dealer and the GMT 900 trade ins we get are completely used up at 50,000 miles.

This is from a guy who has owned nothing but GM truckd for 35 years. But don't get me wrong, the new Fords and Dodges suck just as much.

If you have a good GMT 800, KEEP IT!

My ONLY regret is not going with a 6.0. In early 2009 the 6.2 wasn't an option except in the Denali so it was the Vortec max. The other plus would have been all the 2009's with the 5.3/6.0 got the 6 speed.

Something else to consider too is that when the new truck comes out the 800 series will be two series old. Not that it might matter to you but it may to whomever you sell it to may see it as an "old" truck. Just like the 900's on the lot will be the old model.

If it were me, i would wait another year if at all possible just to see what they next gen trucks offer and see if you want to go that route. If not then you can pic up a left over or slightly used 900 for a good price.

Completely used up at 50k...you are out of your mind. I have 81k and she's still like new. All depends on your maintenance. I could tear up any vehicle if I wanted too..

The only thing I dislike is the thinner body panels and useless bumpers. The pluses outrank the minuses, while I could be "more satisfied, I am still satisfied. As someone else said other manufacturers are the same way so in the end there is no alternative eventually.

I've worked in the GM service field from inception of the GMT800's until current and I can tell you this, there is a VERY good reason that I never owned an 800 series. I sold my '98 last spring with 189,000 on it (just saw it on Friday and it's still going just as strong as ever with 200k on it now) for my current truck and completely skipped the p.o.s. 800 series trucks. I made oddles of money of those trucks and the failure rate of the 900 series isn't no where near what the 800's were, period.

That's just my professional opinion though.

+1 here. The GMT900 is vastly superior to the GMT800. A much better truck IMHO.

my dad and brother have an 800, i drive them often, and love the ride and feel of my truck so much more!

my only regret with my 900 was not getting a Sierra, and not getting a crew cab! since owning my truck, i've started to like the sierra's front design more. and after a 1500 mile road trip with 4 adults in the truck, i wish i had a crew cab with an entertainment system! i almost pulled the trigger on a 2012 denali AWD in December, but the salesperson was being pushy and we couldn't agree on trade-in value. they tried giving me what i wanted by calling it "trade-in value plus tax savings" some made up number they use to sell people.

i didn't need all the fancy bells and whistles at the time i bought my truck, my wife's SRX, and my Camaro had all that. but now the Camaro is gone and i can afford those details now.

but i'm happy with my truck, i just don't see myself owning it much longer after the new models come out in a year or two. :)

if i were in your shoes, i would wait until the new models come out to see what they're like.

My Father in Law sells Fertilizer and has had an 08 since it was new. He spends half the time in fields and back roads with his and is not the least bit easy on them (company truck) and his truck is still rocking along with 190K+ on it. So I will see you 50K and raise you 140K hard miles.
