Two hoorays for me, the wife found the recycling center pass so I got to empty the truck bed of bags of garbage/recylcling. Then she finally found the spare key & fob to the truck. It was lost two years ago while I was deployed. Outstanding!

So I got to talk to a police officer in Texas today. Boy do they do it different!

Headed back to the hotel from the customer site and I crest a hill and see two officers running a speed trap on the left side of the road (median), I look down and I'm doing 80 (damn 300 is so much smoother than the truck!). I knew I was busted so I slowed down. The officer walks out into the lane, pointed at me than pointed at the shoulder of the road. Said he got me at 78 in a 60. Went back, ran my license and came back and said just to watch my speed in the future and to have a nice night. Got lucky on that one but it's also been more than 4 years since I've been stopped so my record is clean anyhow.

Still not as good as a girl who was a friend of a friend I knew- we were headed back from my friends place and she was ahead of me absolutely flying. She went around a bend and got lit up. I pulled off ahead to get gas and she pulled in after. Said she was clocked at 75 in a 40, let go with a warning! I should add that when I first saw her that night my first question was if she had borrowed a shirt from her son to wear (he was six back then) so that probably helped her case!

Never a shortage of entertainment with what people say when stopped or what you might see when stopping them, that's for sure

Today I pulled my front license plate. It was bent up from the car wash and the bracket was broken

I didn't even bother making an excuse. I kept my hands on the wheel, looked him in the eye and answered all his questions. Back in NH my brother is on the fire dept and has been since I was 10 so I'm friendly with almost all of them so I think it helps that I don't turn into a bumbling fool when approached by an officer.

As for the gal in my last story, she absolutely had the assets to impress, all I'll say on that.

I have been pulled over a lot. Some with tickets some not.

I got out of a speeding ticket in high school because my S10 was overheating. But my uncle was a commander with the sheriff's department. So I got an ear full when I got home. I was also hit once for not stopping before the line because my foot slipped off the clutch. I had just gotten my license and was learning a manual trans.

I'm pulled over alot for dumb things because my truck isn't completely stock only 2 tickets 1 for supposedly speeding in my Buick I had cruise at 30 in a 30 he said I was doing 48 lying sob shoulda fought it.. And my tint fix it ticket from the other day.. I'm always nice and never nervous I'm only rude if they are to me and some have been

I got pulled over last week after lighting 'em up for my neighbor, with a cop in the parking lot across the street. Nice guy, asked "What was that all about?" and I told him. He ran me, came back and said "It's tough with a vehicle like this to find the right place to let loose, I have the same problem with my mustang and Harley. Try to make good decisions as to the time and the place, and I'll do the same." With that he handed back my info. I told him to have a Merry Christmas and he wished me the same, and then added "oh yeah, and I see that your birthday is next week, happy birthday."- He is on my telepathic Christmas card list.

You would have had to prove you were doing 30. There was a large thread on this in march. I got a speeding ticket for 84 in a 65. I had cruise set for 70.

He should have to prove his radar is right.

I had a conversation on here and an ex-officer from here, and a current officer from PA both told me that you have to prove your right. So I rolled over on it pled No Contest, and did traffic school.

They say that because u can't, which is why I was told ask to see the radar gun when they say that

Got cut off by a Buick driving downtown. They were turning and changing lanes at the same time. Kids my age. Almost hit em. Locked up the brakes and honked like crazy.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
