Sorry to hear that Sarah. Hope he's ok.

Let us know how he's doing Sarah.

What did the Vet say? Hope everything is OK. Have one that is not feeling too well either. Not sure what is going on with her.

On the truck side of things. Had to go to a Road Ranger yesterday & they were working on the pumps. For what ever reason

they were only selling premium, but at the regular 87 octane price. Cannot beat that. Saved $7 as that particular locations

premium fuel is priced accordingly.

He's perfectly healthy all tests say he's fine so we have him on medication to prevent any further issues and so far since his last seizure at the vet we haven't had any issues. Gotta take him back for blood work the 15th to see how the medication is taking to his body but he's been his crazy self so it's so far so good.

On another good note I ordered 35/12.5/17 goodyear fierce attitude mt through discount tire heard alot of good things and they're cheaper than the tires I was going to get. But I need to replace all my damn inner tie rods again...

Glad he's ok! Great news!

Out here, even on stock vehicles it seems front end work is a never-ending saga. My '72 El Camino used to take these roads no problem, but all my newer vehicles, it seems like every year something in the front end needs replacing, even with Amsoil synthetic grease at regular intervals. They don't build the stuff like they used to. Our '86 Grand Marquis has over 130k miles on it's 10 year old ball joints (except one that I forgot to wipe the dirt off of). The tie rods inner and outer are roughly the same age, all over 100k miles. Guess it's a truck thing ...

Nope, my pickup has 127k on all original front end, other than wheel bearings. A ball joint boot finally tore though so it'll be time soon. Some others are looking a little fragile too.

Wow you did good there. My Silverado only made it to 38k. Went to get a sticker, and the inspector told me the lowers were junk. I didn't believe him, so when I got home I jacked it up and checked myself. Yep - toast!

I managed to get 50k out of my hub bearings, struts, and upper ball joints though.

Oh I'm not happy about the bad boot. I was planning on doing everything at once. Once in the air, one alignment and back at it for another 100,000

Damn that's weird. My old truck had 328k before I did any work to the front end (probably way overdue, bearings still good though) and my dad's 09 has 200k and no front end work

I'm solid axel swapping mine within a year I can't take it any more

I'm assuming mine got overgreased (probably by me) and that's the reason for the boot failing before the joint.

They're supposed to bleed off excess ... but lots of times when they're installed, the relief in the bottom of the boot is facing the direction that it's pressed down the most in, and will blow the thing out. It should face towards the hub/wheel.

The rack ends on my Silverado have no reliefs - the pressure stays in those forever.

I would hesitate before I bought any SFA vehicle as a daily driver. They're so much more complicated to work on than IFS. Yeah a 4 link Rock Jock 60 with high steer is great, but very few people run something built that well.

I'll continue enjoying being able to work on my front end myself.

Well after all the work in putting my driving lights back on the truck I found that they turn on anytime the headlights are on, high or low beam. I found out the wiring for the lights work a little different then my previous truck. I ended up putting a switch in so I can turn them on and off as I see fit. Still working on aiming them to my liking. Also I need to get a brace under the bar so they don't bounce around so much.

Minimal front end work on mine.

What is the average weight that you tow with your 2500HD? I've had to turn down some 18,000lb loads because my truck won't handle that. I'm looking to get another 2500, but wonder if the airbags help out the load enough to support that kind of weight, or I should just get a dually. Don't want the dually unless necessary.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
