He was wondering why his speedometer wasn't working, look at one of the pins that never made it through the board, it just curled up and never made it through the hole for the pin.

Ahh, gotta get them hot then. This is a fantastic design with an aluminum driveshaft ... :nonod: Not looking forward to doing mine when that day comes.

Front shaft is steel with plastic retainers on 2500, rear shaft is aluminum with outer clips

AHH, yeah, you said FRONT. Don't mind me - braindead ... lol. I recall seeing clips on the rear of mine as well, so I'm just wrong all the way around tonight! :happysad:

Yesterday my buddy and I did front brakes on a dodge caravan. Then the sky decided to open up right as we were dropping my transmission pan. We changed the external filter, internal changed to a deep pan filter, and installed a deep pan filter. Supposed to add an additional 3 quarts of fluid to the system. So far I've put in a little over 3 gallons of fresh transmission fluid. Such a pain to find Mobil delvac 1 ATF. None of the parts stores have it, only NAPA said they could get it. $43.75 a gallon. Some sellers on amazon are selling it $70+ before shipping.

Today drove my truck to the dealership to return the coolant that I ended up not even using. Also checked on what the torque spec is for the rear diff drain plug. 24 lb/ft, same for the fill plug too. Neither one were anywhere close. Pretty sure the transmission plug wasn't anywhere close to whatever it was supposed to be. $400+ later in parts and fluids I'm good for another couple months.

Nice!

I've been waiting for the weather to cooperate over here - finally a peak of sunshine for the first time in a week.

Got to get started on the Nightmare Tahoe - that was the one I had here for over a year trying to figure out why it would only run on 6 cylinders, no matter what we did. That vehicle was the motivation I needed to learn OBD-II inside and out. Anyway, long story short, it ended up being exactly what I suspected - the local junkyard ripped me off. Told me the computer they sold me was out of a V8 Tahoe when the VIN came back to a '96 S10 Blazer that was in a wreck! At the time I didn't have my Autel scan tool, so I couldn't prove it - the guy saw the doubt on my face and took advantage of me. Told me he'd only honor the warranty if I had a dealer troubleshoot the entire system! Wish I knew then what I know now ... or maybe not, because I probably would've socked the guy in the mouth ...

ANYWAY ... the Tahoe is here for exhaust work, tranny seals (shift shaft and tail shaft), and a pair of inner / outer tie-rod ends, plus sleeves. Then I have to get it aligned, and get a sticker for her.

Yeah as far as drain plugs go, snug is all they should be. By hand until they touch the pan, then maybe a 1/16th turn after that, or less. I've never put a torque wrench on one. Some people get paranoid and hog down on the things ... so the next guy rounds the thing off ... & I get to extract it.

To the dealer to get the right front seat replaced. Seat back adjustment motor froze with seat back all the way forward.

Wow, that's insane! I've got a 24 year old Volvo, and a 31 year old Ford with power seats - both STILL function perfectly ... although the Volvo has a bunch of grit in the works. Can hear it crunching as you move the seat fore and aft.

They just don't build stuff like they used to, and that makes me angry. :nonod:

Yeah it rained off and on the 2 days we were working on our trucks. I was on the gutter side so I was laying in a mini river yesterday. Nothing like ATF and run off water to condition the hair and skin. :)

I had the lumbar motor replaced on my driver's seat a couple months ago. Unfortunately for some reason the extended warranty didn't cover the bottom rear seat motor so now the bottom back of my seat doesn't move up and down. Front can still be angled.
