Metal line sounds like an AIR system air line (emissions bandaid - I'd weld it shut and throw the whole system in the trash) - if you look on your belt-driven accessories, there should be an air pump there (unless it's electrically driven - most '07-up vehicles are) - you'd have to follow that tube up into the engine compartment to see.

For your shocks, if they were loose for a long time, you might need new shock bushings - they usually get pounded right out of there, and that makes a BIG racket. I had that happen with an Edelbrock shock on my '89 S10 Blazer, but the shock wasn't loose - it was a defective bushing. It happens these days.

Now, as far as the rear "hub" goes, that's an axle ... so it's either you've got a bent axle, worn out axle bearings, or a problem inside the differential.

AIR on a diesel that new?

Thought he had a gas job.

EDIT: Ahh, Duramax in his description - should've read that! NOT an AIR line. Probably fuel line for DPF.

Well that's one benefit to building vehicles "beer-can strong". I assume (and hope) he is 100% ok?

Not 100%. Knee we assume hit the dash. Was swollen and had drained yesterday. MRI scheduled for this week. Considering the accident that’s pretty minor.

Well, glad to hear it wasn't more serious. I agree!

Hope he has a speedy recovery!

Washed him last week, got the full detail in. This week I treated my weatherstrips, lubricated hinges and such, and finally dried out my fog lights. Man do I love Deep Ocean Blue!

In related news, I have never been so excited to get a piece of plastic. Any guesses as to what this is?

A blue oval maybe, not sure it's a tough one.  At least it's not all corroded...

Spent a bunch of time with my buddy and neighbor replacing the inner and outer bearings, axle seal, and axle gasket on the right rear.  Tons and tons of fun...Truck rides considerably smoother so we didn't do all that work for nothing.  One of the bearings and race were somewhat scoured so there was definitely something going on back there.  Only thing I can find in the log book as to why the axle hub nut might be loose is way back at 19,918 miles when the rear axle carrier and bearings were replaced for some reason (log doesn't say why).  Truck is at 82k now but shake started being noticeable about 20k miles ago.  Hopefully it stays smooth riding for my upcoming 1,200 mile road trip.

Nice when you get a project done and you get a good benefit out of it.

Fog lights dried out, took a couple of weeks but they are moisture free and no water marks on the lenses. Beats the hell out of taking them out again.

Got my bedliner installation scheduled, Line-X with color match. Will look sweet, even moreso with the factory bedliner bowtie. That was a search like none other.

Osram released new Night Breakers. The Lasers, as dubbed, are even brighter than the Unlimiteds I have now. Will help big time in deer country.

Yeah I just feel bad about having to rely so much on my neighbor's vast knowledge of things.  Having a 60 or 70 something guy walking back and forth across the street multiple times and then banging away on the truck makes me feel like an ass.

Buddy found another "fix" that might smooth out the ride a little as well.  Ordered new rear cab mounts using information from one of the duramax forums.  The dang thread is 81 pages long lol.

Today if I get off my butt I'll swing by wally world and pick up another jug of diff fluid, didn't have quite enough to fill the diff back up.  Maybe I was a little low to begin with or more came out when we did the RR than we thought.
