In other news, made an offer in a house. Got a decent counter in my favor mostly. So I signed it. Hopefully by December I’ll be in my first house

I work the 412 fuel shop. I’m on a straight 5 day schedule, off at 11:30

When I’m on 2nd Shift, we clock out  around 11:15pm, and I’m on the road by 11:20.  Pretty sure my manager will have me back on 2nd, at least that’s what he was telling me, the other day.

Most my shift is on 9 hour days and off at 12:30. Hell i’m usually home before 12:50. That’s if I and slow leaving the office. Plus side is I don’t park in front of 1600. I actually park on the line.

Got 'em packed in high and tight in the shop. '04 Ram on the lift - had a rotted out oil pan, broken end links, and was due for a used motor oil rustproofing job.

I don't usually repair truck clusters older than 2003 just because I can't get the parts but yesterday this guy was down on his luck and needed his 2002 Sierra diesel cluster fixed and since all the gauges still worked good and it didn't need stepper motors I decided I'd give it a shot.  It took longer for me to find the pin-out than it did for me to fix the 2 problems with the cluster.

1. There was no backlighting.

2. The display was dead.

Once I had the pin-out I was able to set up a connector with the proper grounds and B+ to fire it up.

It's all fixed now and we have an other happy guy.

Trimmed my trees and cut a couple down.  Filled my bed up and still have another 3 or 4 loads worth.  Looks like I'll be making some trips to the dump tomorrow since I incorrectly thought it was closed today.  I could have done at least 2 trips today.

Using the Volvo for a catch pan? :P

Started deciding what I want to get next in 5 years, I figure it'll be time to upsize with my kids(never too early to start looking with all the idiots on the road that can retire your car early). Was looking around Craigslist, and every gearhead does, a BMW X5M with 88k miles for 24k. That's actually not a bad deal, Especially with it gets to 60 in about the same time as a 6th gen SS with a stick.

But it hasn't been 5 years yet, and my garage is full. And in 5 years the newer 600 HP ones wont have the badge tax.( Because I don't want to haul my kids around to sports in something too nice.)

Congrats

Nothing set yet. Was a multiple offer thing. I was near asking. But I don’t know where the other was. So I have to wait a couple days

It will depend on how many offers they have so far. Everyone wants the best deal.

13 years ago I (got lucky) made a lowball the realtor said was ridiculous and would loose the guy money, the house hadn't sold fast enough  and the builder costs/investment were going up daily....

And that's exactly why the builder accepted.

That post is probably still around here somewhere.

Wife and I house hunted for 2 years before we found this place. Every single one in our price range was a total wreck, and/or shared a well or driveway, or had neighbors feet away. Wanted no part of that. Got to a point where we gave up and settled - BIG mistake. Thank God that all worked out in the end, though - turned out my realtor found out the seller's agent and the home inspector were in cahoots with each other - well was too close to septic tank, and was failing. We were able to back out of the deal, and my wife took them to court - got all her money back PLUS interest, and then we found this place, FAR away from the city. THANK GOD.

Today, I drove out to Edwards AFB, picked up my wife after we dropped off her CR-V for its first set of new tires, drove to Rosamond for breakfast, Lancaster for some shopping, Mojave to go talk to CHP, Tehachapi to buy a couple diodes for some light mods, back to Rosamond to grab my hitch (forgot it when I left the house this morning), back to Edwards AFB to pickup wife’s car and a trailer for tomorrow’s parade in Boron, and then home for the night.  Crossed the 400 mile mark and the 500 mile mark.  Truck and trailer are out front ready to go.  Will post pictures after the parade, when I have them.

Rolled the 600 marker Saturday, going to/from Boron’s “20 Mule Team Days Parade,” and the 700 marker tonight, on our way home from Tehachapi, just west of Mojave.
