I last changed my oil the end of '13. Amsoil Signature Series can run up to 25k miles, depending. Since I've only got about 7k and one fresh quart added, I decided to run it through the summer. OLM has been at zero for quite a while now. I'll be sending out the oil to Blackstone Labs whenever I get to the oil change.

They always say you should change it every YEAR regardless of mileage, but I've never bought that. Stuff is too expensive to pitch every year with only 5k miles on it. I'll take my chances. Aside from the oil burners, the rest of the engine seems to be the one thing GM got right so far this century.

Smashed my 2013 up last night a moose ran out in front of me I hit the brakes ture caught the ditch and it sucjed me in and took out a barb wire fence and fence post and olowed down a metle post my Road armor did its job no dings or dents on my truck but its got nastys scratches its going in on Tuesday for an insurance appraisal. I'm starting to think we'll the trucks almost paid off I've had lit of fun in it iv beat on it from the day it was born and its bin good to me considering the way I treat it so think I might not buy a new truck and might spend some money on this one. While the insurance company is going to pay to repaint half the truck I'm thinking of getting them to color match my Road Armor bumper and since my one mirror is a victim I'm thinking HD mirrors. I'll post pics of damage tomorrow.

Well what I did with my truck today was traded it, I traded it on a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie. I'll miss it but I'm happy with my new truck and now I have to start customizing this one.

Truck is almost at 125k miles, think I'll order some new autoride shocks, Im pretty sure they are the original ones. Here goes EDIT:

Rock auto FTW!

GMPD:$1171 shipped

RockAuto: $981 shipped.

Might do that in two weeks when I'm off.

Traded my truck yesterday, long story short the wife travels better laying down. Bought a Hyundai Santa Fe, got a banging deal. Still have my custom 92 Chevy so I'll be around.

I like it so far, have a long day of driving the wife around for work today so I'll get some good drive time in and get to master the navigation too.

As in she reclines the seat while you drive?

That's incredibly dangerous. Please don't tell me she's one of those feet on the dash types too.

Sorry, I realize I sound like an ass but I'd never let someone I cared about sit like that in a vehicle I am in control of.

Man, people dumping their Chevys like yesterday's street taco.

I wouldn't say dumping it's not that I hated my truck I actually loved it just didn't care for certain things but I thought about upgrading and I decided to go with the dodge. I like the Chevy and will never bad mouth it or run it down like it's junk I just felt like the dodge was better for me at this time and it's likely that I will own another Chevy down the road.

Do to a bad surgeon, she has had numerous repair surgeons in the last 5 years, nerve entrapment hernias etc. The results she can't sit for more than an hour even on extra cushions. She would lay out on the back seat on an assortment of cushions. Two days ago while taking her genesis in for service we notice a Santa Fe in the show room marked down and took it for a ride, all the seats fold down enough to fit a mattress. We got home and in the mail was a flyer for 0-70 months. I went back and and told them if they do both id buy it. I walk across the lot to the gmc side ( same dealer) and drove an Acadia no comparison price and features. So Hyundai number 4, never had a problem with any of them. Oh.. yes when riding up front she does put feet on dash. Reminded me of this from the one and only Star Trek comedy movie, where they traveled back to the 80s and sre trying to blend in.

If you haven't seen it but remember the 80s or early 90s, it's a hilarious movie.

    • The BORA 3/8" spacers arrived yesterday along with the extended lug nuts. I got the front wheels changed out today, but was overheated and covered in sweat so bad, I figured getting both front wheels done was a win, and took a cool shower. Hopefully, I'll go out tomorrow morning before it gets into the 80+ temps and do the backs. After getting the first wheel snugged up, I backed out one of the lug nuts then hand turned to count threads. I believe I stopped counting around 12-13, so I think I'm good there.
    • My fullsize truck is averaging over 26mpg so I'm pretty happy with the increased fuel economy targets. When I had my gas Silverado (2020 5.3) it was averaging 21. Again, for a fullsize truck, that's very different from the 12-15 these things used to get 30 years ago.   Whine all you want, increased MPG is a good thing.
    • That is a fair point, and I think an OBD-first proof is probably the right next step. I agree that the value is not the hardware box by itself. The marketable part would be the software: always-on capture, baseline learning, event reduction, system-specific reports, and alerts. Also agreed that if an OBD device is always plugged in and has local storage, it should not miss the event in the same way that a scanner plugged in after the fact would. The only thing I would not want to assume yet is that an ELM327-class device gives all the late-GM data needed at the rate needed. Standard OBD live data, DTCs, freeze frame, Mode 6, VIN, and calibration information are definitely the right starting point. GDS2 also proves that a lot of useful ECM data can be viewed through the DLC without needing a DTC first. The question I need to test is whether the data needed for a useful GM V8 event report is actually available through the DLC, and at a useful sample rate: - misfire counts / roughness by cylinder - AFM/DFM state - oil pressure and oil temperature - fuel trims - voltage / reset context - U-codes and communication events - calibration / software information - whether these are standard PIDs, enhanced DIDs, Mode 6 data, GDS2-only data, or not available So I think the right benchmark is: 1. Build the OBD-only version first. 2. Keep it plugged in and logging locally. 3. Compare it against GDS2 / freeze frame / HP Tuners or another higher-end logger. 4. Measure which parameters are available and at what update rate. 5. Only justify ECM-side hardware if it captures useful evidence the OBD version cannot. So you may be right: the consumer product might simply be an always-plugged-in OBD event recorder with much better reporting. A question for you: when you say ELM327 devices can already deliver all the data needed, do you mean generic OBD Mode 01 data only, or GM enhanced data as well? For a useful GM V8 report, would generic OBD data be enough, or would you expect the tool to include enhanced items like misfire by cylinder, AFM/DFM state, oil pressure/oil temp, U-codes, and calibration information?
