Hmm....

Should I have the new ones out on today or literally wait until snow?

That penny is the same concept as a normal one, see top of head equals replace.

I'd run those in summer, but not for long. This time of year I'd be watching the weather very closely.

I just can't decide because it's double the wear bar but the tread looks aged for only being 5 1/2 years old.

But, if I do keep this the max of two more years, I might as well start using my new ones now. (Two years because I'm hoping all the things I'm interested in has Android Auto by then)

As long as it doesn't feel hard as a brick pinching the tread with your fingernails, I'd run them to the last minute. Hard tires get scary in inclement weather.

Definitely wouldn't run those in the snow, though.

Yeah, but since I won't keep it long enough to wear out the new ones (70k Treadwear warranty and read a review from a 900 owner that backed it up) Might as well get their benefits now. Edited by SnakeEyes

Guess the previous owner had them underflated often. Measured every tread block. Outsides are 3/32 and inside are 4.5/32 on front tires. What's odd is I just called discount Tire and got very different prices than last call. It was going to be 90 for mounting and balancing and now it's 16 per wheel. Was 60 per sensor and is now "generally 20 to 40". So his guesstiment was around $150. Last one was $200. Soon as the boys wake up and get some play set time in I'm heading over there.

I just don't feel good about these tires. They have hairline cracks all over, tread is much harder than the tires I just bought(which are eco branded btw), and the raised black lettering looks rough.

What's wasting 2/32 tread on a old tire for safety's sake?

When I start peeling out in the rain at very light throttle, I know it's time to sh**can my tires. :driving:
