i was in there removing my bluestar and decided to just leave the wires off and not have onstar. well the truck did not like that at all. check engine, brake and ABS warnings plus DIC said service 4x4 with the Onstar removed.

GM should put a packet of KoolAde in the glovebox for all such occasions.

OneWorldOrder is right around the corner.

No problem, it really brings out the tin foil people though. I hate onstar I bought phone minutes with them during my free year and they went ahead and renewed my subscription with the visa # I gave them without permission. I was pissed!

did you try multiple key cycles? My truck did something similar the first key cycle I did after reading the PCM with HP Tuners, but after a couple key cycles (only a few seconds each) it went away

Anyone with a smart phone is tracked more than OnStar ever will, just seems funny that those with smart phones can't stand OnStar. Just saying!

What is wrong with OnStar knowing where your vehicle is? One of OnStar purposes in life IS to know where you are so IF your vehicle is stolen it is more likely to be recovered....

Besides between the Google Vans, all the satelittes and who knows what else (including our phones) were all tracked in one fashion or another. Ever notice the ads on this forum change to what you've been searching for on the internet after a few minutes??

Facebook is scary- I made a comment (as a joke) that I was off to Craigslist to find a date and the moment I pushed enter every ad changed to dating sites.

What did you think would happen? It think it is being stolen as it is programed as a theft tamper event. What thiefs do to get around this is to load the vehicle in a metal shipping containt and chop it while te 18 wheel is on the road. Sattelite comminications do not work in a steel container. My question is the people that are wooried about this is what are you hideing???

that is just as dumb as a mariner not wanting a dsc vhf radio in their boat because the Coast Guard can get thier location at anytime. Well do you want to be resuced when you are unable to tell me location because you are scrambling to stop flooding when you are sinking or would you like me to query your boat for you and get you help so you can come home?

OnStar uses cellular networks for communication, not satellites. The GPS function may be disabled in a building or shipping container but they could still triangulate your location from cell towers like a 911 dispatcher does with cell phones.

it would still be to late by the time they figured the car is gone. Hell if you dont want it to work unplug your antenna and leave the brain in. i do not believe a cellphone would work well in a big steel shipping container anyway. if a steel building kill my phone a 1/4 inch steel box will deffinatly kill it.
