Unable to get playlists to work on USB stick 2012 Silverado

Hi -

 

I was wondering if anyone can provide advice on how I can get MP3 playlists to work on a USB stick for my 2012 Sliverado.

 

Here's what I have:

• a 16GB USB flash drive formatted as FAT32.
  
• 2 folders on the USB flash drive containing MP3 albums:
  
  • Eminem - Recovery
    
  • Metallica - Master Of Puppets
    

   

   

 

A file called Steveo.m3u in the root of the USB flash drive. I've tried different methods to create this file:

Winamp creates the m3u file with these contents:

#EXTINF:279,Eminem - Cinderella Man

 

Eminem - Recovery\(11) - Eminem - Cinderella Man.mp3

Media Monkey creates the m3u file with these contents:

Assuming the above reference to D:\ drive wouldn't work in my truck, I tried a few modifications:

In none of these cases am I able to see any sort of playlist through the stereo, though it does read the USB drive fine, and I can play the MP3s out of the 2 folders directly without issue.

 

Is there some trick to getting playlists to be recognized by my radio? Or am I stuck taking the copies of my favorite songs and just putting copies of them into one consolidated folder? The truck's instruction manual does state support for m3u playlists, so I'm confused.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated
