Really worth $50k+????

I love my truck.... Let me rephrase that - I love the 6.2 and 4wheel drive - I hate the loud cabin, the flimsy sheet metal, the leaking break light, the sqeaky dash, the lack of rear wheel well liners, and the rust spots.

I paid $42 for my truck. Looking at these new trucks and they are going to be at least that. Question is - are they really worth it? Seriously, where is the beef? Chevy used to be "like a rock" now it is more like an old banana. I don't just blame Chevy (although they do appear to have the cheapest look), Fords are even more over priced. Ram seems to be a little cheaper, but they have to be (and give huge discounts) due to some nagging problems with them. With Ram's new diesel coming out, the truck will definately be over 50K to stay in line with upper level fords and chevys.

I want to see someone step up with a real truck again. No frills, hard body, tank with power and a few minor conveniences like electric windows, AC, and radio. Price it around 25-30k.

Not going to happen. Considering the manufacturer doesn't get a ton of profit for their vehicles anyway they don't jack the price up anymore then they really have to in order to stay competitive. When the cost of living goes up, so does everything else.

im a die hard GM guy, but as much as many people here will disagree, the NEW fords are the best trucks quality/reliability wise. the new F250's are awesome overall, interior/engine trans.

IMO the #1 upgrade from a half ton to an HD is the frame. The HD frame is what lets you have everything else on the truck tougher and bigger. Engine, axles, and of course more load. The GM trucks have a far better frame than any competitor.

If the new trucks cost too much buy a used one.

New vehicles aren't cheap from any manufacturer.

Well seeing how Ford has finally developed a Diesel Engine AND a transmission that can actually compete with the Duramax and Allison that has been around since oh.. 2001.. I think Ford has done well. Are they better? Sure the interrior is nice on them, the exterrior has arguablly gotten a bit uglier with those big azz bug eye headlights with the front end that looks like it's bigger GM brother punched it in the nose, and the back end gets a taillight that is the same as since the late 90s only with the reverse lense being put at the top instead of the bottom.

Reliability? Let's see how they do in another 3-4 years. Ford's reliability tends to crap out around the 100,000 mile mark based upon my previous ownership of Ford Trucks and Utility Vehicles (Excursion and Exploder as my examples)

Just my thoughts.

You are paying for more and more government mandated nanny junk and convenience items the typical consumer demands. Then there is the constant cost cutting in every industry. There is no going back unless we can escape to new world!

Doesnt help when the assembly workers are making $45.00+ and hour either and however much on top of that going into a pension. Us normal working people have to make up for their high wages in the end. The autoworkers union will be the first cause of one of the big 3 to go bankrup for good.

If that were really the case then other equivalent vehicles should be much cheaper and I don't see it. Makes a good sound bite but things are not that simple. (Before anybody asks, neither I nor anybody in my immediate family has ever belonged to a union.)

GM makes/sells the rear fender liners for your truck. Standard on the SLT/LTZ or Denali trucks.

What's with the leaking "break" or brake light problem?? How is your lamp leaking??

Thin sheet metal??? They are all like that now. Like others have said above, the government keeps pushing for higher MPG/EPA #'s. There IS a point where we hit a "brick wall" here. But adding more aluminium & plastic parts, & using thinner sheet metal ='s less weight ='s higher MPG #'s.

I love these treads! I've been a GM guy my whole life! Although have had a few fords as well(they were the cool fords though)! I bought my 2013 for ONLY $37! Bought mine through QVC! Hahaha but I'm also 6.2 crew with max tow and leather. I also have a 2012 ford f-250 also 6.2. Both have equal power and I'm happy with both trucks. Can't say I like one more than the other. I'm staying neutral. Lol

These trucks are worth what the consumers willing to pay for them. If the luxury barges continue to sell like hot cakes then they're worth whatever they're going for, be it 42K or 50K+. I see a ton of Platinum F-150's around here and I can't believe it since they go past the point where a truck can truly be useful, because they're so useless due to them being so "pretty". But those consumers need them for driving around and not for real work, so it's understandable.

I just don't feel like I am getting what I paid for anymore.

Maybe the Government (EPA standards) and Unions are to part of the problem, but I just can't believe how the price of these things keep climbing. I just can't keep justifying paying for all the plastic and cost cutting measures.
