looks good and congrats on the new purchase. Now if only GM would offer the 8ft bed with a half-ton crew instead of those dang short things.

Does anyone offer that? And obviously it doesn't mean anything concrete but it doesn't even list extended cab long bed as an option when you go to the configurator site for Chevy.

Bed rail lights do good for the back area of the bed, the switch turns them on and the cargo dome lights on. The bed glows at night. The only weird thing is the rail lights are led's and the dome light is the regular bulb so u have two complete different colors

I'm sure there's a way to use an LED bulb on the top cargo light.

I'm not sure if anyone offers that or not, but I am excited to have a 6'5" bed. It's a step in the right direction.

Offhand I don't know. GM is supposed to have the ext cab with 8ft if I remember correctly. I don't remember where I read it. I think it's on the new ones. Must have read it somewhere since it got me mildly excited at having a real bed again and since the new ext cabs don't have suicide doors anymore I could deal with them.

I agree

Congratulations. Great looking truck. I thought i liked the new Silverado better, but the more i see of the GMC, the more i like it. Still have not seen either on in person. One day, when i replace my old tried F150, i will get a crew cab GMC or Silvey....

enjoy that sweet ride!

Lol...I have a really good friend that is the inventory manager/new car manager at my local dealership that I get to order all my vehicles. They were allotted 3 trucks on the first shipment so he called me up when they put the order in several months back.

AWESOME looking truck! I looked at a couple vehicles yesterday while
the dealerships were closed here in Houston and I was drooling.... I
have a 2005 2500 GMC Sieera HD SLE and I'm due for an upgrade.

My question is, how long is "Short Box" vs. the "Standard Box" ? (I
could see the difference between the two but don't know actual length)

My dream ride is the 2014 GMC Sierra 4WD SLT Standard Box. I'm ready to avg better than 11 mph.

I've only bought (1) brand new vehicle and that was in 2005. I bought the
older model after it was out for a year. What can we expect to pay for
the 2014 if bought now before Oct. and then Nov/Dec.? I know I can buy the 2013 for 22% off MSRP. I know that wont be the case for the 2014's currently. Whats a good deal off MSRP on the 2014? I'm thinking about
waiting until Nov. to have more trucks to hit the lots, save a bit more
$$, and hit the salesman week of Turkey Day or Xmas.

To answer one of your questions standard box is 6'6" and short box is 5'8"

The standard box is 6'6" as mentioned. A good deal is really dependent on ur dealer but I would start at invoice. A better deal would be to wait a little bit. I don't know what they will offer off later on but looking at all the newly redesigned Acadia they aren't offering much off still and the terrian still since its launch hasn't had really but 500 off that I've seen. If they keep on this track it could be awhile before anything substantial is given off. I have called Gm marketing before and explained I have bought a new Gm vehicle every year for the past 7 and they have emailed me a private offer good with preferred pricing and other current incentives which was a help.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm definintely waiting until Nov/Dec. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed no major issues with my truck come up.

Dealers down south have been staking them deep & selling them cheap. The "got to have it first" rush ended about 3 weeks ago.

That silver one kinda looks like a dodge Dakota from that angle.

Man I've gotta find ur dealers! Dealers in our area got the first ones last week and selling them cheap this early in the game is kinda odd. Like I said I can see invoice right now but anything other ur getting a steal. I too live in the south and have good friends that work at the dealerships. Most dealers will advertise cheaper online pricing but when you get there with a trade they will make it back.

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
