2013 Silverado 1500

Well, I had been GM free for over a decade. Bought a 2013 1500 the first of the month. Drove nice. Looked good. Overall seemed like a decent deal. Silly me. As the short time I have owned this, I realize more each day what a POS this truck is. Not just mine, as the build is the same for everyone other than the packages. Just the design overall was done by folks not breathing oxygen. It is fine for folks that want some sort of city truck for the wifey and the kids, but the more I have to do with this thing around my place in the country, I am learning it is NOT anything like stuff that had Chevrolet on it in the past. The list is vastly extensive on what I don't like about this pickup now. I will give it Kudos on ride and comfort. Everything else sucks rocks. Chevy trucks are not like a rock..... they are a rock.... a dead piece of solid material taking up space and not good for anything but a paperweight.

Had a 2500 back in the 90's and liked it. What they are putting out now.... I will definitely be telling folks to stay clear of GM. Unless all you are looking for is a car on steroids that is the ultimate nightmare to work on, and will cause you more grief if you do anything more with it than go down the road.

Guess we just have different needs and desires in pickups. The commercials sure paint a neat picture, but once you get one of these out on the farm, you will create new swear words to describe how it is for that purpose. I liked a '98 2500 I had before, but I did not have it since '03. This one.... I am finding more and more to complain about it each day. And I don't even have 1000 miles on it yet. Truly saddens me that the government bailed these folks out with mine and other's money. Nothing like being suckered twice.

It is nice if all you are looking for is a car and you never need to do anything with it but go to work and maybe haul some yard trash. Maybe use the 4 wheel during a snowstorm to take the wife shopping. But for much of anything outside the city limits and anything that remotely smells of work, better look elsewhere.

Sell it, don't complain about it on the internet for the next 5 years, just sell it. This is coming from a person that did exactly that on two trucks.... an 09 Ram and 2010 Titan. The Ram was after 10 months and the Titan after about 2 months. The Titan was used so I didn't lose a thing whereas the Ram was new and I of course lost money but what do you honestly expect. It's not worth the hassle, even taking the hit.

You are in an old discontinued truck. You expect it to be up to par? Sounds like you should have looked into a newer 2014 instead. Sure they are not perfect but not as outdated as the outgoing trucks.

Well considering GM sold more half and 3/4 ton trucks last year than Ford I'd say they still have plenty of people think they're a good truck. Not sure where you're coming from, as usual.

Sounds like he is comparing a new 2013 1500 to the 2500's he had in the past?

Agreed. Sell it so you don't get fixated on being negative. How much did you test drive it? It seems like at least some of your complaints should have come out in a genuine test drive. Also, you're using it on a farm? Man, I would've gone with a 2500, at least, for farm work.

Hell Ive got a 2007 NBS with a 4.3 and I tow my 17' boat, 3 quads and a camper (not at the same time though I wish I could) and it does right by me. You cant expect a 1500 to do the work of a 2500. I understand your disappointment , but next time test drive the truck you want, in order to get what you need.

It still has the 10 bolt with 3.42's (no locker) and 4L60E. So not quite mutant

That toy hauler would be real, real unpleasant to tow with the 4.3.

It was real unpleasant with the 4.8, no brake controller, and no trans cooler
