Hey cowpie can you hear the air traveling through your lines where you have it mounted in the spare battery area? It sounds like mine is leaking but I can find a leak and it's running fine. I think I'm just hearing the air through the hoses.

That's all it is. Just the vacuum changing as it passes through the lines/can

I have artillery ears from the Army and I am getting old. I sure can't hear any air regarding the catch can. But if it was leaking, more than likely it would throw a code for lean fuel situation. Had that happen with me early on when I accidentally forgot to replace gasket between the head and the glass bowl on my catch can after disassembling and cleaning. Just a minor leak yet it threw a CEL and code. Lesson learned.

I have had the CP can AND the AFM disabled on my 2013 almost from day one after buying it new.

The CP can filter can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, or MAF and TB cleaner. I have cleaned mine a few times. No need to replace filter.

How difficult to get to the filter unit and clean? Does it drop out with the bottom removal? Thanks

Once you unscrew the receptacle and remove it, you can then unscrew the filter from the unit head. Simple as all get out. You can then clean it out with ease. Then reassemble, and you are done.

I just drained 2oz out of my 37K 2012 GMC Sierra 5.3L, on a 6K oil change interval.

What catch can are you using? thanks. And thanks to Cowpie for the reply.

Ok, the question was asked and I didn't see a response...what engines does this affect and what is the purpose? I see a lot of 5.3Ls listed, is the 6.0L affected?

Any engine with a closed crankcase system is a good candidate for a catch can. The heavy diesel OEM's have PCV oil trap systems as regular part of the design. Only the cheap auto and pickup OEM's leave it to the owner to figure this out.
