GM Borla with flapper valve system cost 1289 at my dealership plus install and tip cost. Tennessee sales tax and all was close to 1600 System does not affect the spare tire it is still in the same spot.
If I had a "do over" i would have just modified my factory exhaust the Borla system does a pretty good job of masking the V4 helicopter noise HOWEVER l hear a big difference when going at a slow speed and the V4 kicks in. To me it is annoying and I will probably be ordering the range device to lock the V4 out even the Borla cannot eliminate the helicopter sound!!!!! I wish someone had told me this before I spent the cash. I will try to get a sound bite in the near future of the tone change when it goes to V4

Thanks, and appreciate your candid critique of the system. About the V-4 sound problem; not sure there's much that can be done about that. A four cylinder engine is what it is. Just a side note; I read the other day that the 2017 Raptor is coming out with true dual exhaust which is the way to go when it comes to dual exhaust. These cat-back systems are nothing more than noise makers imho as they do nothing to improve flow through or reduce back pressure hence performance. I would be very happy to pay for a true dual exhaust system as a factory installed option. Wish GM would get off the dime and offer such a setup.

I have experience with true duals, single in-dual out and then my current set up, and for performance, my current set up rivals the true dual set ups (I think it's better personally). The stock exhaust pipes are fairly narrow and most shops only install a 2.5" pipe (approx) or less. I have done quite a bit of talking with the Houston House of Power and they have designed their own system around dyno results and won't use anything smaller than 3". They use either 3" or 4" single pipes and are pulling some numbers out of these trucks that are outrageous! And the MPG numbers I've seen are pretty great too.

I went with a 3" pipe all the way out. We cut out the third catalytic converter and replaced everything from there with 3" pipe and a 14" magnaflow. This system has given a much more noticeable performance increase than any other exhaust system I've dealt with. The 3" pipe increases the flow substantially.

Stock 6.2 exhaust is 3" SS pipe. I have a complete system for sale with the Denali chrome tip for 180 bucks if someone wants one? I do not think the GM Borla cat back exh system with its 2 2 1/2" exit pipes added any performance it just sounds good LOL

With 6" lift and 35s. My average is between 11.2 and 13~. Doesn't get much better then that. Until I put my camper behind it. Then I don't even look at the MPG just fuel when I get below 1/2.

So no one has posted in this thread in a while...
But I made a significant improvement in my gas mileage in the last week.
I have a ranch hand grill guard, 10 ply 33" BFG KO2's (275/70/18) and typically get around 15mpg at 75-78 on the highway.

Well I had been debating ditching the grill guard so took it off my truck at the beginning of last week to drive around without it.
I took a 350 mile trip this weekend and upped my overall bests on my 25, 50 and 400 mile averages.
I got 19.5-20.5 mpg for the entire trip with the cruise set at 76mph.
I've had that grill guard on since about a week after i bought the truck... so now i'm selling it with those kind of results. Haha.

Wow that is quite a difference. I would not have guessed that. How much does the grill guard weigh? I have similar tires to you and the 19-20 mpg is what I see too on regular 87 gas.

The grill guard is probably 120-150lbs

It's not all that heavy.

I think it just messes up the aerodynamics of the front end so much that it is taking a big hit at 75mph

OK I have the combo for the gas mileage people. Buy a 2016 6.2 8spd / Install a bed cover / Install GM Borla Exhaust / Use a HyperTech Hand Held to install a premium tune. Adds 27 hp so you are driving a 447 hp beast that sounds mean as heck with the exhaust.

Looks like it is getting broken in now.

Overall average is lower due to lots of remote start cooldowns and city driving the Trip B 25mpg is from a trip yesterday on the highway TN to IL

Just installed a CAI will see if that makes a difference. (sure sounds good with the Borla Exh) I believe the fuel suppliers have changed over to winter blend fuel now so we may all see a slight drop in mileage anyway though....
