^welcome Jay. If you see some other threads, those owners that had their exhaust system replaced still had the squeak/chirp come back. Instead of wasting time at the dealer, I just clamped my valve open. But now I do get a slight drone in V4 mode.

Well damn it! Haha. They said it was a "faulty valve" so I figured a new one would fix it. Thought I read someone thought it was redesigned. I'll go aftermarket...... eventually. Thanks for the info.

Can someone help me understand? Is this valve normally opened when the truck is off? If that is the case, I should be able tp turn only one direction and clamp it down?

I clamped mine open due to the chirp. Have had it clamped open for about 9 months now and no issues, couldn't tell it was in v4 at all. I have completely stock exhaust, only change is the valve open. This morning on the drive to work, it kicked into v4 and I got the "helicopter noise" and it was pretty bad. Wondering if any of you are experiencing this? I am wondering why all of a sudden it started doing it.

Could be your exhaust is starting to break in and flow a little better and now the v4 drone is a little more noticeable... I noticed mine drone is a little louder since I initially opened my flap also. I only have a little over 3K on the truck. I run the trans in M5 when I am not on the highway so the v4 won't engage.

I had mine bolted open for a few weeks but had to revert to normal because I couldn't stand the drone in V4 mode. Very bad around 1200 rpms. The tiny improvement in sound quality when starting up just wasn't worth it.

I did get the v4 drone when I turned mine open but it wasn't all that terrible I have to say. Kinda sounds like a helicopter is outside...lol hey man , I complain about a lot of other things but this one is ok , could be worse.

I wonder if there is any kind of lube/ high heat silicon or something to be able to get it to not squeak. Im going to do some research and see if I can find anything.

The dealership changed my exaust system under warranty 3 weeks ago. While I was waiting for the new exhaust the dealership clamped my current exhaust open. Driving around like that for about 3 weeks.....the exhaust sounded lousy. Loud drone.....got a helicopter noise on decel. I've been driving around with the new exhaust for 3 weeks and it sounds a lot better than when it was clamped open. No squeaks yet. Time will tell. As far as I know it's just the same stock exhaust. They said the other exhaust had a faulty valve.

I seriously never had an issue with V4 and exhaust sound on my 2007. I loved the way the exhaust sounded on that truck actually. I want to change my exhaust to be exactly like that system so I guess I just need to remove the flapper valve and the resonator. I don't really care about the 3rd cat.

For the guys that clamped their valves open and then got a helicopter type sound, I'm wondering if that sound is from the air passing around the flapper in it's open state and if the flapper wasn't there, the air flow would be more smooth and eliminate that sound?

Not sure if that flap clamped in the open position would cause the helicopter noise.

I had my whole exhaust replaced under waranty to fix the adaptive valve chirp. It was good for about 3k miles, but it is now chirping again when going from V4-V8.

So all I know is I'm done with this exhaust. Starting to research aftermarket exhausts. I recently drove across country from MA to CA pulling a 12 foot trailer. The trailer was packed. Couldn't fit another thing in it and I had my quad in the bed of the truck. Truck did great pulling through the Rockies. Love this truck but the exhaust has to go.

Can anyone recommend a muffler shop in the San Diego area?

I just got my 15' 2 weeks ago and the first thing I did was drive it from the dealer to my shop and do a full cat back flowmaster system and Volant CAI. Sounds way better than stock.

I hope you guys are certain those nails aren't going to fall out. If that mod gets really popular and those nails aren't in there solid then we're going to have an epidemic of nails in tires.

Personally I'd just pay an exhaust shop $40 to cut out the flap. Even with it open it disrupts the airflow and creates unnecessary back pressure. This engine has to push through tiny exhaust manifolds, then 3 cats, a flapper and a muffler. Let that baby breath!

    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
