Choosing a tonneau cover

My neighbor has used a Roll N Lock on his past two trucks and loved it. That's what I plan on going with if I get my new truck.

I have a RollBak.. it's great and almost identical to the Roll-n-Lock. RollBak you have to open the tailgate then the bed cover. Roll-n-Lock you must open the cover then the tailgate. You should choose b/w the two based on which method you prefer.

 

I'm not familier with the RollBak, but the Roll-N-Lock actually locks into the tail gate as well as the sides so once you lock it up you physically cannot get into the truck even if you have the keys to the tail gate, also the Roll-N-Lock goes down into a can, the downside is that the can does take up a little space in the back, the upside is that when it's locked away it doesn't effect visibility through the rear window at all.

As for the question regarding the leaking, a $60 bed seal kit takes care of that.

The only negative that I can think of over the last 3 years is that in very cold weather I have had the Roll-N-Lock freeze up, but that could have been resolved by better lubrication on my part.

Been looking at the Fold A Cover myself. Some of the roll ups are nice but you can't remove them very easy to get full bed access. The Fold A Cover can be taken off with 4 bolts and let the rails in place. Also like the drop in box for the front they have. The Back Flip is not as well made and I don't want anything leaning against the cab.

I got to see the RetraxPro installed on a vehicle at a store here today. Very nice. The RetraxPro works independent of the tailgate which is nice. That's eventually the cover i want but it is PRICEY so will have to wait a bit. That and the bedrug hopefully in the not too distant future.

 

the RetraxPro installed with tax was $2075 I believe it was.

Tuff choice, I went with a Solid fold on my truck. Very well made, but the best thing is easy on easy off. It weights a bit but nothing two people can't handle. The only thing I didn't like about the roll up covers were.

 

1. Expensive

2. You'll loose up 1 foot of your bed

3. No easy way to remove if you wanted to haul somehting

Depends what kind of roll up. Access Vanish can be removed in less than a minute with two bolts, and you definitely don't loose a foot of your bed, plus they're only $300.

I have a truxedo lo pro QT. it is a roll up style cover, removes easily and "locks" with the tailgate. I have had it for about 45 days and so far so good. Just had it in some hard rain and no water inside. It came with a lifetime warranty on everything including the vinyl. I paid 385 for it. For what I need it for it suits me just fine, no complaints.

That's very similar to the Access Vanish, I almost bought it, but I had an Access Vanish on my Ram and loved it, so I went with the same thing again.

I like my Exxtang blackmax cover. I know of one other member on here that bought a used one and it's still in great shape!

That would be me. I got it used off Craigslist for $75.00

I've been looking at these too and have thought the Undercover Flex was what I would go with whenever I get a truck. Lots of choices out there.
