do you need to continue your onstar subscription to use this? if you do, you might as well just use onstar.

No. It is factory nav. 3D maps. Traffic and weather via sirius.

Has anyone had an issue with there vehicle warranty being voided by installing the new f module from Kodiakz? I spoke with the parts manager at my local chevy dealer about this and he said that is not an authorized gm part or upgrade, if it was then Chevy would offer it and by installing it you void your entire warranty. Chevy does however offer an aftermarket gps system they install. At least my dealer here does.

I was thinking the same thing. I told him it was a gm part and he got confused and quite all of a sudden.

Because he has no idea WTF you are talking about; AKA your first clue to run :D

How much are you guys paying just to add some nav and weather...

Just PM kodiakz and he'll email you the information....but....it's about the same price as if you had ordered it on the truck in the first place...

And, it is the exact same GM nav unit as the original factory one would have been. The only hardware difference after installation is that kodiakz gives you a separate GPS antenna to simplify the install process and it works flawlessly.

Functionally, there is no difference from factory Nav because it is factory Nav!!!

Have fun...

Straight from the GMC website....

SAFE & CONNECTED: ONSTAR®

Available on most Sierra models is a 6-month trial subscription to the OnStar®4 Directions & Connections Plan. The plan includes:

  • Automatic Crash Response
  • Turn-by-Turn Navigation
  • Roadside Assistance
  • Emergency Services Link
  • Remote Door Unlock

After 6 months it goes bye bye unless you pay for the package from OnStar

The way I see it, it's cheaper to buy a new TomTom or any other GPS device in order to get the latest Map updates rather than pay an exuberant amount of $$ for this simple feature. This sux!!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get your VIN updated with GM or whoever so when you get service on the vehicle they know it has navigation? I am concerned if I update this that I will always have to explain to them about this upgrade and that I know have nav. Anyone with any experience or issues with this after the install?

Thanks.

Has anyone whom bought the Nav upgrade from Kodiakz had the odometer update done???? Had mine at dealership yesterday for oil change and tire rotation, dealer did transfer case recall and update and tried doing the odometer update and it kept failing. After 4 hours I had to leave, since I just went in for oil change and they had no loaner to give me, so I had to take my Silverado with me. Long story short, Blank DIC, no steering wheel controls working, airbag fault and traction control showing that they are inoperable. Would not think KODIAKZ updated HMI for nav would have anything to do with it, but maybe

Yes I have the Kodiakz nav installed and had the transfer case and odometer upgrade done yesterday...no problems
