Got the 8" screen & nav (had 4.2" screen) yesterday and installed today. It's awesome!

Mr. Jon:

 

Do you have more information about changing to the 8" screen etc. Do you have the website with photos and instructions etc. I need more information on this change over.

No website or photos. Just PM Kodiakz and he'll hook you up. Instructions come in the box.

Can you copy your instructions so I can see how it is installed and the cost of the item?

It's only one page, very simple. I tossed it after the installation. Just pm kodiakz, he'll answer all your questions.

I've been watching this topic for a while. Would like to know if everyone is happy with the Nav.addon Module. Thinking about getting it.

After having it a little over a week I'm very happy with it. It works perfectly fine but my only complaint is it's a little slow. However, this is my first time using a factory navigation system in a vehicle so I don't have any previous experience to base it off of. I'm used to my iPhone's navigation and that's incredibly fast and user friendly, so maybe complaining that it's a little slow isn't fair. On the other hand, given that this is a $1,000+ upgrade from the factory I think it's reasonable to expect it to be faster. No regrets though. I recommend getting it if you go out of town a lot. I also recommend adding on traffic and weather. It's a little less than $200 for a three year subscription, which works out to be $5.50 a month; pretty good deal.

I'm not sure how you do it on taptalk but to do it on the computer you hover your mouse over a person's name and then choose send message.

Well I got my package today, I had ordered it before I found this site and after reading all the post on the GPS upgrade I’m almost sure mine came from the same person that is a member of this site that sells them, even though I ordered from a company, I think he and the company are one and the same, I have gotten dash clusters from them in the past, good people to deal with, I have a 2014 crew cab that I bought that was five months old with a little over 6,000 miles on it, for what I think was a good price, but after reading all of this thread I took my truck to the dealer today to check for recalls and up dates and it had several, that needed taken care of, they can’t get to it until the 10/22/14 so to keep from having any problems with the up dates, and the upgrade GPS system I’m gonna wait until they have taken care of all the updates before I install the unit, hope mine goes as smooth as what I’ve been reading on here….Also they are going to check the drivers seat to see why it has a popping in it when I turn a curve sounds like something is broke in the seat bottom, don’t make the sound all the time…………..or should I say the feeling that I feel in the seat……...

Hey guys I found a company making a factory NAV unlock solution:

They also sell a video in motion unlock for streaming video from the sdcard slot, and

also a solution to replicate the screen of your iphone/android so you can see the google/apple

maps and of course youtube games etc on your screen while driving. Thats freakin awesome!

 

I'm going to just get the smartphone unlock and use google maps and youtube to watch videos...

Not while driving of course haha.

I recently installed the kit bought from Kodiakz, works great. Seems like all of the factory nav stuff is working and I'm actually getting the traffic and weather apps already without calling XM to have them turn on TravelLink. Anyone else experience that?

 

I also see that I now have a "Video" app icon on my MyLink home screen. Anyone figure out what that is or how to watch a video? Wondering if I'll be able to put something on an SD card or if a DVD will play on that screen now..

      Why don't I have a good scanner? I've always wanted one when I've needed one.   My latest reading says I don't need to do a relearn on the ckp sensor on a 1995 with OBD 1.5. The relearn is prescribed for the later-model 1995's which shipped with actual OBD II when GM completed the transition in prep for the 1996 MY. I need to confirm that. Did you know forums are disappearing? Knuckleheads on Facebook... it's not the same. It's just not.   So, scanners. Again, shooting myself in the foot for having eBayed my Snap On MT2500 "brick" with all the adapters. Not that I couldn't buy another but those are getting quite old, and mine wasn't new enough to work on 2000's vehicles.   Damn it (as I'm scanning my email between paragraphs here). Did you know there's a 2000 Jimmy 2-door on BaT that's ending this morning? It's local. I want it. 14k miles. Absolutely beautiful.   Back to scanners. MT2500's are old. Solus, now that could be a contender. There's a ~2008 Verus with a system error that's basically new in box for cheap. Hmm...I'm not sure about a scanner that runs an archaic version of windows (95 or CE, I can't tell).   I want the ability to reset and rotate TPMS, test individual modules, bleed ABS, electronic parking brake controls for servicing brakes, relearn procedures and other bidirectional controls.   Snap On does an MT2600. It's a new model as of last year, marketed as their "entry" scanner. Entry? Only where $1900 gets you through the doorway plus, I'm guessing, $1000/year if you wish to keep it current. So goes scan tools actually designed for production environments. Want decent products with excellent support, you pay for it.   Everyone is raving about Autels and TopDons and Foxconns and all these newer brands that are selling the $500 "prosumer" scanners for backyard hacks like me. They're tempting...honestly. Updates are cheaper, base prices are remarkably cheaper... And you get to deal with bugs and translation whoopsies and, well, just don't use it on anything expensive, OK? Having a dealer replace an ECU because it needs to be re-imaged after an adventure in scanning is no joke. But I think most people are getting by OK with these units.   eBay on a scratch-and-sniff pro-model oldie, a shiny new TopDon, or???   God dang it, I can't stop looking at this Jimmy. I'm ready! I'll Bring The TRailer! It's beautiful.

      I removed the OE running boards.  It looked so much better.  I wish I took them off a long time ago.     I had to put something back on for my wife.  I wanted Westin Sure Grip Running Boards but they are very pricey, like $600 plus.  I was going to go with the Ionic 41's like I had on the 2019 Silverado but went with Westin Outlaw Drop Steps instead, about $200 cheaper.  They are sturdy and functional but not super crazy about the look, but it works.
