I have a question I hope I'm not sounding dumb. From what I have read on this thread is that Kodiaz's Nav. system is installed by removing the glove box to replace the module and removing the front part of the dash to install the GPS antenna. I have been looking into adding Nav. to my truck and in my searches on the internet I have found a video that shows them removing the touch screen cover and the touch screen to add Nav. the leave out the parts that they replace and when the video picks back up it shows the factory or what they call factory Nav. installed. What is the difference between installing these two different types of Nav. and is one better than the other. Don't get me wrong Kodiaz Nav. install sounds a lot easier.

FYI I installed this a month or so ago and could not be happier. For an OEM NAV, it is pretty easy to use. Voice controls work. I was riding shotgun and was able to input a destination after pressing an accept button that I was the passenger or something like that. I have not tried it from the drivers seat while moving.

I ordered from Kodiak and also shopped around with the gmnav guys. Kodiak was cheaper by a considerable amount and the warranty is still in tact as nothing was modded. You do not have to remove the touch screen. Just 4 torx bolts for the glovebox removal, minor f bombs getting the module out, and two 10mm bolts to remove the pass side pillar trim to get access to install the antenna. Its really easy.

Any questions you can pm me.

Thanks again Kodiak for the system.

Kodiakz

I already have your nav and works great. I see the new map updates are out and they are using USB to load. They also request your vin. Will this be a problem for any of us that upgraded?

FYI I talked to Kodiakz and he said if your updating the maps all you have to do is plug it in via USB like normal and it will work.

Sweet deal although the maps are ridiculous expensive.

I think the updates maps can be found here. $155, not sure on whether they work or not, just looking.
