Just got mine installed took about 20 mins to get it in, and works perfect! Thanks Kodiakz

So how exactly is everyone installing the nav without the subscriptions? and what is it costing?

You don't need a subscription for the standard voice activated nav--it is a gps based system. You need a sub if you want xm weather/traffic and/or onstar turn by turn directions

I know it's well documented, but Kodiakz is the real deal. Ordered mine Wednesday night and he shipped immediately. Got the unit today and will install it tomorrow.

If it is anything less than expected I'll post my opinion, but everyone says it is super easy so I won't clutter an already busy thread with the same thing over

The weather app works now as well !

Weather app?.... what? I don't have this

I only have Sirius radio. I wonder if they offer this as well

EDIT: yes they do!

Sirius does offer weather but it is not that app....that app is only if you have navi and pay the xm travellink subscription

Question:

I installed with 0 problems, but now that I've driven about 100/150 miles post install I smell burning rubber when my air or heat is on. I am hoping it is nothing, but the one thing floating in my mind that could be related is the new GPS unit that I had to run the cable for....I didn't think I had it in contact with anything I shouldn't have but admit that wasn't something largely on my mind when I put it in and there is an air blower right there on the far right passenger side. That wouldn't get too hot to melt anything, would it?

Anyone experience this after installing their unit?

Essentially, I do not want to take it to the dealership and they screw up my GPS, but I also don't want to start an electrical fire when driving!

Thanks

Best advice would be to just pull the GPS cable out quick and look at it. Doesn't take long.

Haha ya, that's the logical thing to do and I had done it already. Im looking for a little more insight than that; there was no visible damage to anything i had installed.
