Adding Navigation to Intellilink / MyLink System

Well I got it done in my Colorado...thanks for the tips...it really helped. Unfortunately I did break several bezel clips that decided to come off and remain in the dash. Thought it was no big deal to order a couple of clips but my Chevy parts guy said the clips are part of the bezel so I had to order an entire new bezel...$60 wasn't too bad though. Kodiakz system is working great...I am really pleased now having navigation. The voice control is functional but providing addresses is a challenge for either me or the computer recognition to understand. I too instantly had XM weather and Onstar downloading.

Just think the truck is more new now with that replacement bezel...lol I hope that parts guy wasn't full of it. My clips were definitely not part of the bezel and metal clips.

You are correct about voice control to enter an address. 90% failure rate. It does well finding contacts, but not addresses. Other than that it's a great system.

I wish you could upgrade it. The Nav in my truck is useless, unless you're in a city or on a major road.. I just run Google Maps on my phone instead... It has all the little oilfield roads in the middle of the forest, that I find myself driving on for work. The whole functionality of it just gives me a headache.

I didn't buy mine from the guy that is selling them on this site, so this is not any thing to do with him, but mine is the same unit that he sells, but if I knew what I know now I would not have put it in my truck, most truck that these units are being put in don't have the upgreaded sound systems in them, and with all the money I spent to upgrade the GPS, I would just go to some well known sound shop and have a nice unit installed, with GPS, new sound system, a GPS that you could get free up grades and not have all the problems that you have trying to upgrade your sound system with the blinkers blowing you out of the truck, and door chimes, that come through your speakers, I would just take the factory system out and would not have all these problems, but that is just me, and to each his own..................

I have not found a shop that could do that and keep all the features like steering controls, onstar and wifi.

Have you found a shop that can make it look factory?

I don't want old not connected radio controls on my dash or a pocket where they use to be.

I guess one could build a fully custom fiberglass dash, but that is pretty extreme in a brand new truck

and not the look I am going for.

The small roads are not on the factory navi?

I've never had issues in my rentals. Oil fields aren't public roads I'm guessing so I wouldn't expect them to be on there. No surprise that Google has it though. They probably know what color underwear you chose this morning.

I don't know how Google does it with adding roads so quick. When I was with the Department of Transportation, they had roads already on google earth that we were still in the process of building and completing. Even had the names of them! Creeped me out slightly haha. I was in charge of adding the roads to our local system and Google usually beat me to it.

Silly question -

I use the navi a few times a day going to customers houses (I do construction sales) - when I get on the road the home is off of, the address number doesn't come up. All I see is 1/2 mile.....1/4 mile....etc up and which side of the road it is on. Any setting I can tinker with to set it so it shows the address once I am close?

I've looked through the settings as much as I can, and I would answer my own question as "no" but I thought I would check here before writing it off......

Just ordered from Kodiakz today. He was very friendly and answered his phone quickly. He sent me tracking information right away.

I think if you tap the box on the right side of the display that has the mileage shown, it will bring up the remaing turns in a list on the left side. The last entry will have the address shown.

Has anyone noticed the map view randomly changing. I like to use mine in the route-up mode. occasionally mine will change to the north-up mode.
