Adding Navigation to Intellilink / MyLink System

Haha ya, that's the logical thing to do and I had done it already. Im looking for a little more insight than that; there was no visible damage to anything i had installed.

Didn't know you did it already sorry man

I ordered an upgrade from Kodiakz and it arrived 3 days later. Super easy install, took me about 20 minutes total. I did not, however, want to add a separate GPS antenna. So I ordered a GPS splitter from Greg at CPS Audio Video. That made the install even easier and while it wasn't what I would call cheap for a small piece of equipment it was worth it. Navigation worked right out of the box as did weather and sending navigation through Onstar. I was ready to have to deal with both but I'm grateful I didn't have to.

How much did the splitter cost?

How much did the splitter cost?

The one I got was $90 + shipping. Like I said, a little on the pricey side but makes for a factory looking install. Very easy too, just unplug the lead coming into the Onstar module behind the glove box and plug it into the splitter. Maroon cable goes back to Onstar, blue goes to the HMI. This video is where I first found it and shows exactly what to do, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckhBmuGfKRI

Greg at CPS needed my VIN to give me the correct splitter, so there could be ones that cost less or more or the splitter may not even be an option. I think your best bet is to send him an email to get pricing. [email protected]

After a day of using the system, it's still working great! My wife is very happy with the upgrade as she is directionally challenged.

Happy to have found this site. Just purchased a new 2015 Colorado and the only option it was lacking that I wanted was Navigation. Mr. Kodiakz is sending my solution to this problem. I requested the GPS splitter and he has that as well. I am just hoping that I do not have to screw with Onstar and XM like Aaron.

Does anyone know what the "video" app/icon is for after doing the upgrade? I thought it was for playing video thru an SD Card in the center console but alas, it is not. I tested that theory today.

I have a 14 sierra & i did not get the video app only the weather....do you have a sierra or silverado ?

According to the Intellilink manual the video icon is for settings related the the rear seat video entertainment system

Just curious if you disconnected your battery prior to your install? Fairly certain that it is not necessary for this installation but wondering if that possibly contributed to you not having to screw with Onstar and XM post your installation...that somehow a power reset automatically activated these services as opposed to calling them. Seemed that all others here had to call but no one specifies if they removed power or not.

Thanks

AJ,

No, I did not disconnect the power. I have only had it for a couple days when I installed it and I finished the initial Onstar setup online after I installed it, that's the only reason I can see for not having to call them ot it could be unplugging the onstar cable. Honestly, I don't know and when my trial is up I won't subscribe at their prices so it's not really a big deal to me. Also, I rolled a subscription from my old car over to this one on XM, so I think that's the reason why I didn't have to call them as I had just called a couple days earlier. The previous car had traffic capabilities but I hadn't paid for that in a few years.

Fyi...I went and tried to find the gm parts for the gps splitter and cables. My parts guy ordered them today. I'll see if they work. My kit has worked fine for last 6 months but I like the idea of having them all tied to same antenna.

I asked this a few pages ago but did not recieve an answer. Does the latest version of Kodiaks unlock also unlock the SMS app that the 2015s have?
