Adding Navigation to Intellilink / MyLink System

The term aftermarket refers to not being produced by the original manufacturer. A part for a 2013 GMC vehicle made in 2014 would still be OEM not aftermarket unless i am missing something ??

"The automotive aftermarket is the Secondary Market of the automotive industry, concerned with the manufacturing, remanufacturing, distribution, retailing, and installation of all vehicle parts, chemicals, equipment, and accessories, after the sale of the automobile by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to the consumer. The parts, accessories, etc. for sale may or may not be manufactured by the OEM."

This is the definition those of us in the industry use. Again the most current database available has not been ported backwards for aftermarket sales and is only compatible with 15.5 hardware currently so if you buy an "update" you'll be getting 2012 data one quarter newer than what you have it is a waste of money.

I'll just wait for some smart kid to get it installed and make a copy, and sell it on e-bay for nearly nothing and then I'll put it in my truck...............

Made that call to XM today with in five mins. had every thing working, even got a good deal for the next 9 months on radio, weather, and traffic, a one time payment of $20.00 total for the next nine months, but I still have to pay the reg. price for the radio in my EQUUS couldn't get them to do any thing with that cost, the lady told me my truck wasn't equipped for the weather and traffic, I said look lady it has been upgraded and I have been told that you people didn't know what you were doing when a upgrade has been installed, with that she said let me turn you on and that was all there was to it..............my free XM had just ran out today.........now all is working radio, weather, and traffic.....

I talked to the guy that I got my GPS update from about the map up date and he said that the version I have had the latest map update that is out there, and said when a new version came out it would more than likly be a usb thumb drive up date which he would have, but nothing right now, nothing about cost yet............

Well got my navigation upgrade from Kodiak in and installed today. Got XM to add the features to my account and they even went as far as to add the features to what's left of my free trial!!! Called OnStar and got a case number and was told that it would take 3-5 days to get a reply...Hopefully that goes well!

I talked to the guy that I got my GPS update from about the map up date and he said that the version I have had the latest map update that is out there, and said when a new version came out it would more than likly be a usb thumb drive up date which he would have, but nothing right now, nothing about cost yet............

Did you buy from Kodiak or someone else?

Hey Guys,

I sent Kodiakz a message but thought I'd post here for some help:

1) To get the nav system to work (from Kodiakz), do I need any subscriptions? I dont subscribe to XM or OnStar, and I've seen a few people talking about calling them for various reasons so I am not sure what is needed with your system.
2) For someone who works with tools on houses but never on cars, how long will this take to do?
3) Does it void any factory warranties?

Like everyone else I am curious what it costs, but I will wait for him to let me know.

You dont need any subscriptions unless you want xm traffic & weather. ...simple 30 min install...not sure about warranty but i have had service since with no problems
