2014 Problems Really Bad?

Like others have said, you're on a forum devoted to this truck, you're gonna get (2) basic kinds of people.....those with problems that are looking to get them fixed(or just complaining cause they can), and the enthusiasts who are looking to learn/share/modify/show off their newest accessory etc. The other 70 or 80% of the purchasers you're not hearing about....yes there are a number of people who have some unexplained(and for some still unresolved) vibration, and others with radio reception problems and probably a couple other more "frequently" repeated complaints I can't recall or haven't seen as I'm still a newbie here....but you're not hearing the huge majority of people who are happy with their new ride.

Take it all with a grain of salt, spend your time researching and talking with the dealer and make the decision thats right for you.

Hey guys new to this forum and website, I own a 2014 GMC z71 4x4. I have had problems with my z71 chrome badge peeling, my a/c not blowing cold, my rear window not working, and now MY ADJUSTABLE PEDALS NOT WORKING I have 8k on it, and im really disapointed. Dealer has fixed badge, a/c, but window and pedals are pending due to no parts available. Any opinions or useful info would be appreciated. Thanx.......p.s. I tokk it 2wice and both times they hav reprogramed "dealer codes" due to recall.

I wouldn't be happy about most of those issues. However, the computer updates re par for the course now a days...

I'm a long time lurker as well and I can honest say on my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT All Terrain Crew Cab , I have had 0 problems but yet just 1 small issue , that is most likely the factory setting of my projector headlights are aimed way to the right but I'm taking in to the dealership tommr to find if it's something more then that .

Other then that small issue I love the truck, I traded in my 08 GMC Sierra SLE extended cab for this new 2014 , and have had 0 trouble with ride , drive, handling or hauling. It gets much better gas mileage. I have the 5.3 in both trucks and it's night & day between the two, the new motor has much more power and more to spare, I drove 650 mile round trip for thanksgiving, and 500 were hwy avg milage 23 mpg at 74mph hwy City I have faired on avg, 18 mpg, keep in mind I keep my foot out of the gas when I drive. City speed is 30-35 mph where I live but a crap load of stop & go.

All that being said , I'm happy with the new truck , the leather seats are surprisingly comfortable, not really hard and stiff like others I've sat in the new interior is 100% better then my 08 finally gm has come in to the digital generation GM did a great job on the GMC.

I live 15 minutes outside Philly and I can not even listen to 3 out of the 4 stations I like. Will not be forced to use sat radio. Got a cheap Ipod and packed on 600+ songs.

I've had my truck for just over 7 weeks and 2400 miles and no problems thus far. I am surprised to hear all the FM problems as I have had no issues. I mostly use XM but I do listen to FM now and then. There is a local station I listen to while traveling to my hometown every year on Thanskgiving eve and I can report the signal stayed strong longer than it did in my '09. I also agree with the earlier comments about many satisfied customers that you never hear from. My brother in-law recenlty purchased a double cab Z71 and a very good friend came home tonight with the exact same truck I have but in silver. We'll be comparing notes and reporting here in the coming months. I'd like to point out that there is a difference in problems and complaints. I've complained about the way iPod playback is controlled by mylink but it may not be an issue for some. Leaking shocks or non functioning rear sliding windows are problems.

I wonder if GM would tell what % of vehicles had been brought back for a problem so far. Who knows. But there are issues, just like there are happy owners. The overall consensus seems to be that the 2014's are nicer and more powerful than previous models. Have you driven a 2014? That's where I'd start if I wanted to buy one.

And of course in the nature of capitalism, you're expecting companies to continue to make a suitable profit on their product, so to support the large increase of backend people and systems to make something internal data like that publishable to the general population you're ok with the price of your truck going up 5-20% to cover that massive database of items?

Yes they already have all that information, but it's to drive internal work, it's not in context or form that is able to be released to the general public and has way more information in it they'd like to share with their competitors or their suppliers competitors etc so teams would have to clean it/filter it etc. If you want to see quarterly reports of how they're doing, start reading the quarterly earnings statement/disclosure that is required for publicly traded companies and see how it compares to prior year and other competitors....lots of info can be gleaned from those

I havent had any issues with the FM radio. I have seen where the XM signal is weaker then it was in my Jeep. The olnly other issues I had were the seat cusion, and the power rear slider. Both were fixed at the dealer with no problems.

Sounds like a bonus not having to service the wife!

To the OP, no issues at all with either of my 2014 Silverado's. They are both LTZ 4x4 and the best vehicles I have ever owned.

My 2014 Chevy Silverado Z71 can't get out of park with shaking the shift lever. Brought it to the dealer to find there are recalls on the back power window and and some computer upgrades. They fixed the window, that wasn't broke, but still can't get the truck out of park. DAY 4

Personally I am getting out of a BMW 550x because it has been to the dealer for issues more than any other vehicle that I have ever owned. 80K for at least 5 trips per year to the dealer. Replaced power steering pump twice, still grinds. Replaced rims 11 times and tires 14 times... (low profile runflats are not made for New England, but at least I had wheel and tire insurance). The radio randomly shuts off at times, other times the radio defaults back to FM 87 with static when the car starts. The brakes squeak with light pressure and the coolant leaks and drips on the exhaust.

So... yes I expect more from a more expensive vehicle... not perfection, but this was ridiculous. I can only hope that my new Denali has fewer problems.

I'm looking at the picture of your Denali and noticed the part around the tow hooks is chrome. Did it come that way because of the white diamond or did you get it special ordered. It looks great! I ordered a black Denali but every picture I see has that part in a painted plastic. If you have any idea how or where I can order one please let me know.

Thank you

Good question. I did not realize that the chrome around the hooks was not in other photos. I didn't order it with any extra chrome. Maybe it is because of the color?
