Poor reception here as well. I was crazy enough to think its because they are pushing you to use your XM (which sadly is working on me because my regular favorite stations don't come in anymore).

I've heard this a few times now on the board. I think the FM reception in my Sierra is pretty good. I'm know what stations are usually weak in the town I live and and they seem to come in fine. It's strange to think that some would have this problem and some wouldn't. I would think the antenna and radio tuning components would all be the same in the 14's.

My FM reception is poor also - but I don't consider that a "problem" w/ the truck, but I guess if some do then I would have to say that I do have ONE problem at least LOL!

As said above... internet forums like this are mostly a place to complain. GM has sold tens ...if not hundreds thousands of these 2014 trucks already. I wouldn't judge too much about 50 or so people complaining.

Bottom line.. this truck is WAY better in everyway when compared to the last body style. But yes.. some do have some little issues like any truck. And a very small percent may have a total lemon. But again... think about the numbers and how many thousands are rolling off the line each week.

Trust me.. go read the Ford or Dodge forum.. they also have their set of problems

To the OP. You are only going to ever hear about the people who have problems. They are the ones who post looking for answers. You rarely hear about the people who do not have problems on the forums. The whole reason for signing on to a forum is to find answers to a problem, help for modifying etc.

I think the vast majority of the new trucks are fine. Mine included. The only real problem I have had is the XM signal is iffy, and I've had to refresh it a few times.

I own a small independent repair shop that sees about 78% GM vehicles. I have yet to see a higher incidence of problems (past model years) that forums like this one would suggest are out there. Sure there are some issues and a new model usually has some growing pains. What I have seen posted on the web and what I have read about in the GM service information was not enough to deter me from ordering a 14 Silverado. I also asked a good friend of mine who works as a tech at a good sized Chevy dealer if he had seen any issues on the new trucks. He said that he personally had not seen any back in for service and that he had only noticed a couple in the shop over the last few months they had been out. He indicated it didn't seem like they were in for anything serious as well.

I do have a question, Craig. You can answer up here, or PM me the answer. You stated that you see about 78% GM vehicles at your shop. In your professional option, is that because the GM's seem to be more problematic, or that the area in which you live has a higher concentration of GM owners (and likely higher IQ's as well. :) )? Just curious because of the great imbalance in your shop. Thanks!

I live and work in Lansing MI my shop is about 1 mile from the Grand River assembly plant that makes the Caddy ATS,CTS and soon the Camaro. The Delta plant which builds the crossovers is only about 5 miles away. Plus all the GM suppliers in town feeding the plants. The Chevy dealer I went through (there are 5 in town) says about 80% of their business is GM employee. So we definitely have a higher concentration of GM cars around here.

I don't get the radio problems because I am in a rural area and getting better reception/more stations than I did with my 06 GMC or last f150. The radio gets a lock on HD signals most of the time. I do not understand why some trucks would be different with the radios.

I don't understand the variance in radios either. I listen to the same FM station most of the time. The station signal varies as I drive around in my '14 and never did in my '11. I don't ever lose it completely but the quality varies. The HD stations drop now and then as well.

The only big problem I had was that the front parking assist kept giving the error that said they were temporarily unavailable. Dealer found the front harness was not connected at the bumper.

Overall, my 2014 is much nicer than my 2011 which I traded in.

Dealer has fixed badge, a/c, but window and pedals are pending due to no parts available. Any opinions or useful info would be appreciated. Thanx.......p.s. I tokk it 2wice and both times they hav reprogramed "dealer codes" due to recall.

Love my 2014 Sierra I've had it since late July and this is by far the best pick up I've owned. Had a few problems like tire sensors stopped working and the cable that works my rear sliding window snapped but other than that I would say go get one you won't be disappointed.
