tailgate won't open

Anybody have their tailgate not open? It's not locked. I can hear and feel one side open when I pull up on the handle but the other side doesn't. Awesome timing as I am out of town hunting for the weekend.

try pushing it closed further as you pull the handle to release the pins. My tailgate is TIGHT and that helps open it easier in my case...

I have aggressively pushed back and forth with the handle up and it still won't open

The Line-X will not void anything and they shouldn't give you an issue. However, it's possible during the Line-X install, they didn't re-attach the tailgate properly. Good luck.

Sure its not locked....?

 

If not, maybe something accidentally came unhooked inside the door mechanism.

After line-x added to my current truck, the tailgate fit tightened up enough that it is necessary to push in on the tailgate while lifting the handle for the latches to release. I left it that way because it also eliminates any chance of rattle.

 

If that doesn't work it may be because you've pulled hard enough on the handle to bend the mechanism (common on 90's generation gm's).

I have never locked it before.

I have checked since it doesn't open and it's unlocked. I have open and shut it 20 times since the bed liner was put in.

Making an appointment next week.

Any word on this? I don't have a spray in bed liner and I am having the same issue. I'm thinking its the mechanism in the tailgate as the handle will go up and down if I have it locked or not.

I had this problem as well, sounds like what you describe with the one side not disengaging. I figured it was my tonneau frozen to the top of the tailgate, but now I'm wondering.

Mine did this same thing over the weekend. It wasent froze so I gave up and drove too town after I parked I c the tail gate opened on its own.

I took mine to the dealer last year right after I asked on here. They fixed it. I dont think they replaced anything and had me out of there in an hour. I havent had a problem since.

Glad to hear it's fixed. Did they ever determine the root cause?

I dont remember exactly what they said was the root or if they knew. Something was said about maybe when linex put the tailgate back on but it works now. if your still under 36k miles make them fix it
